Going Beyond Borders 2009

Going Beyond Borders 2009. Stories and reflections of a journey as an university student puts her education to use in serving the community and the world. Friday, October 16, 2009. Life after Beyond Borders. This is another guest post I've written for Akhila's blog " Justice for All. As part of her "Be the Change" series. I’m going to break the news: I now work in the corporate world. I guess with all the posts I’ve written on my blog. It is understandable for one to assume. I know I need to be doing more.

Going Beyond Borders 2009: I survived 110km

http://rubybeyondborders.blogspot.com/2009/07/i-survived.html

Going Beyond Borders 2009. Stories and reflections of a journey as an university student puts her education to use in serving the community and the world. Monday, July 27, 2009. I can't describe the Makgadikgadi Pans in words. So I'm just going to post photos. The walk itself was tough. The original route was wet so the alternative route we took was only 110km. We couldn't imagine walking for 40 more km. The money raised will go towards local NGOs. And supporting the youth leadership programme. And Matt,...

Going Beyond Borders 2009: It’s kind of difficult sometimes

Going Beyond Borders 2009. Stories and reflections of a journey as an university student puts her education to use in serving the community and the world. Friday, September 11, 2009. It’s kind of difficult sometimes. As I share my experiences in Botswana with people back home, slowly I’m able to articulate my lessons learned and challenges faced much better. I’d have to say the ones that had the biggest impact on me were the following:. How do I response when people ask, So, what did you do in Botswana?

Going Beyond Borders 2009: Y Care Pt.1 - bonding up on Kgale Hill

http://rubybeyondborders.blogspot.com/2009/07/y-care-pt1-bonding-up-on-kgale-hill.html

Going Beyond Borders 2009. Stories and reflections of a journey as an university student puts her education to use in serving the community and the world. Monday, June 29, 2009. Y Care Pt.1 - bonding up on Kgale Hill. When I first found out about Y Care, I only knew about its neat name and the 150km desert walks. After this weekend, I realized apart from raising money to help organizations in this country, Y Care is also playing such an important role in empowering and supporting young leaders. Ever sinc...

Botswana Bound!: A post, this time from a not-so sunny Botswana

http://beyondbordersmatt.blogspot.com/2009/06/post-this-time-from-not-so-sunny.html

Thursday, June 11, 2009. A post, this time from a not-so sunny Botswana. I just thought it might be time for another update! Today was the first time I've seen the sun since Monday! We have had full days of clouds and rain since I’ve been here… it was the first time that the temperature didn’t reach 25 degrees! Needless to say, the weather has been really amazing since I’ve been here and I’m having a hard time appreciating the rain and cold. They love trying to teach me Setswana, so I think they will lik...

Botswana Bound!: January 2009

http://beyondbordersmatt.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 24, 2009. So it’s about time that I brief you all about Botswana, the country that I will be calling home for the summer. Botswana is in the south-central part of Africa, bordering South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia. In size, Botswana is about double that of the state of Arizona. Despite the fact that most of the country is desert, Botswana has become one of the most popular places in Africa to travel, with many of the most exotic African animals making Botswana their home.

Botswana Bound!: It just gets better and better!

http://beyondbordersmatt.blogspot.com/2009/06/it-just-gets-better-and-better.html

Thursday, June 25, 2009. It just gets better and better! Ahh – I CANNOT believe June is almost over! Life at Stepping Stones International is amazing and I probably couldn’t be happier. I met with Ruby, my friend at Someralang Tikologo, earlier this week to finalize the details for the environmental seminar I’ve arranged to come to SSI for the youth. We also worked out for the details for the Community Cleanup Event we’ve organized for July 11th. I’ve still got a. Needless to say, I am never bored here!

Sunday, July 12, 2009. Travelling and Enviro update. First off, Tuesday is my Grandpa's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA! Sorry I can't be home to say it in person! Also, I missed the 3-Amigo Birthdays in Southampton this weekend – hope everyone had a blast, as per usual. Happy birthday Kyle! Ahhh there is so much that has happened in these last 2 very busy weeks! She was excited to see me, told me to sit down and that she was all ears to hear about my trip. It made me feel so much better right aw...

Tales from the Sock Drawer. Where the important and the mundane get jumbled up together…. I don’t want this to be a ‘preachy’ or overly ‘churchy’ blog. But I thought, given some of the things I’ve learnt recently about prayer*, that it was time I added a page. More on that later. Leave one →. February 9, 2010 4:38 pm. February 21, 2010 2:40 pm. Just a quick update. Today I went to Church with my friend and her husband. It’s the first time he’s been out and about in a while, but he is! Light a candle for ...
