The Family Who Runs Together, Stays Together! Monday, November 2, 2009. And that helped a little, but I was still going really slow and my next 2 miles were in something like 11:21 and 10:45. So, it was a slow race with me finishing in 32:06. But I was happy with that after being sick and not being able to breathe for most of the race! I won 2nd place in the costume contest too and got a really cool medal so it was all worth it! There was Starbucks coffee and Halloween cookies afterwards too! 9/20/2009 -...

The Must-see Bird Blog : Young birds everywhere
http://mustseebirds.blogspot.com/2015/08/young-birds-everywhere.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. Last Saturday was forecast to be the coolest day in a long time, and it delivered with fresh breezes and our first chance to use the windshield wipers in months. We took advantage and headed down to check out late summer birds at a few refuges. We found a lot of young birds of all kinds. We brought along both our old scope and our shiny new Celestron one. (Thanks again, Celestron! After some initial sibling rivalry, they're getting along quite well. This stilt hunkered down on i...

Sunday, August 16, 2009. I qualified for Boston! Well, maybe not really. Problem is, I did not run my marathon on a "certified" course. And, I wasn't actually running a marathon at the time. I'm just trying to prepare myself for the upcoming Superior Trail Run 50 (52.1 miles Larry - you are a sick man) on September 12. Now, it seems I take that for granted. I don't. I am thankful for the talents and skills God has given me. At 8:14 - I needed to bring it down to 8:00. Kept pushing a little faster eve...

The Must-see Bird Blog : A hot time in Central Oregon
http://mustseebirds.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-hot-time-in-central-oregon.html
Thursday, July 9, 2015. A hot time in Central Oregon. Last weekend, for the sake of our somewhat sensitive dog, we escaped the high temperatures and fireworks of Portland for the high temperatures and no fireworks of Central Oregon. During previous Fourth of July weekends, we birded as much of the area around Sisters as possible, maximizing our species list. This year, our top priority was to prevent heat exhaustion. The water in the Metolius River is always cold and the air felt about ten degrees cooler...

The Family Who Runs Together, Stays Together! Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Last night Chris and I headed up to Rapid City for the Halestorm, Chevelle, SHINEDOWN, and Staind concert. The concert rocked, especially my favorite band, Shinedown! It was an all around awesome night. Halestorm puts on a great show with a lot of energy and their lead singer is a cool rocker chick so you can't go wrong! Check them out if you haven't heard them before! Links to this post. So, we made plans to head up to Deadwood on S...
