Something in Nothing:: Impropaganda (2014)
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2015/02/impropaganda-2014.html
The works of Vincent Leong. A stack of broadsheets emptied of text, it reduces the newspaper medium to its cold reality as space for rent, a form of real estate mapped according to the design of commercial and political interests.". The idea for Impropaganda. 2104) was conceived a couple of years ago, but I was only ready to produce this work for my last solo, "Hari Ini Dalam Sejarah/This Day In History". http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2012/04/exclusive-property-series-klcc.html
The works of Vincent Leong. Executive Property series (KLCC). This work was initially developed for my upcoming solo show at vwfa.kl this coming June. But during one of our conversations, Eva (McGovern, curator and creative partner) suggested for it to be included in her Wawasan. Show in vwfa.sg in March 2012. So here is a sort of preview piece from my upcoming show. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Selasar Sunaryo Art Space. Gertrude Contemporary Art Space.

Something in Nothing:: Hair piece for Milcah
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2011/04/hair-piece-for-milka.html
The works of Vincent Leong. Hair piece for Milcah. Made out of human hair and framed in double panel glass, this work from way back was made for my hair-stylist/friend, Milcah. I am only posting up 2 of 4 panels because I am not completely pleased with the other half. But before I could complete it, Milcah disappeared (to NY, apparently). *where are you? Something in Nothing:: Work-in-progress: Kuala Lumpur Map
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2011/07/kuala-lumpur-map.html
The works of Vincent Leong. Work-in-progress: Kuala Lumpur Map. If possible, please draw your maps on blank pieces of paper, scan them in (or take a good clear photo of it) and email it to vincent.email@gmail.com. Dare I say it is at least 40% done? Tiring, but satisfying, the main reason I am still doing anything at all. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Selasar Sunaryo Art Space. Gertrude Contemporary Art Space.

Something in Nothing:: Executive Properties (2012)
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2013/02/executive-properties-2012.html
The works of Vincent Leong. These photographs are digitally manipulated to insert iconic buildings of Kuala Lumpur into the view of derelict spaces, also found in the same city. What can i say about these rather self-explanatory photographs? Vwfakl in June 2012 (curated by Ms.Eva McGovern). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Something in Nothing:: Roundabout (2014)
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2015/02/roundabout-2014.html
The works of Vincent Leong. Another attempt at drawing circles: Roundabout. Is made with tire marks from a motorcycle. The act of spinning a motorbike on a single point, made famous by our own notorious motorcycle gangs, locally known as Mat Rempits. In a country where road replaces rivers, trees make way for concrete towers and automobiles behave like animals; this is our landscape now. Photograph courtesy of Silverlens Galleries. Something in Nothing:: Kenapamu, Malaysia? (I)
http://somethinginnothing.blogspot.com/2015/02/kenapamu-malaysia-i.html
The works of Vincent Leong. The last (and only) time I visited the Tugu Negara (National Monument) was when I was brought there on a school bus. I remember my mum packing me sandwiches for this school excursion. Details of its history was not clear, but the message was clear: men suffered and died for the peace you enjoy in this country. It left an impression in me that 'we made it'. We have managed to pull through certain adversities to get us where we are today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
