The Long and Winding Trail

The Long and Winding Trail. Friday, June 5, 2015. Definitely Maybe: Cayuga Trails 2015. Over the past few weeks. I mean, what's the story, morning glory? It's good to be back! On the starting line, once again surrounded by 200 plus trail runners, I took a good look around. Strangely enough, it felt like only yesterday since I last toed the line at the Cayuga Trails 50. We could only hope the stairs wouldn't be too slick and the mud would be minimal. Some might say we will find a brighter day. I need to b...

The Long and Winding Trail: October 2014

http://www.runningthegorges.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

The Long and Winding Trail. Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Just Beat It: Chasing a PR at Green Lakes. They told him don't you ever come around here. Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear. The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear. So beat it, just beat it. I had blasted the song on the short car ride to the park, and needless to say, the 1982 hit provided adequate fuel and motivation to get me going at the predawn 6:00AM start. The Green Lakes Endurance Runs. You wanna be tough, be...

The Long and Winding Trail: April 2015

http://www.runningthegorges.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

The Long and Winding Trail. Sunday, April 26, 2015. A couple of weeks ago, I returned to the Shawangunk Mountains in the Hudson Valley. For another fat-ass trail run. Now in its third year, the Springletrack Fat-ass Trail Marathon. Is a sister run to the Wagathon. Castle Point, atop the Shawangunk Ridge. What is a springletrack you may ask? Yes, that must be it! Mike, the fat-ass organizer, started us off and we began a jog through the woods. I was surprised to learn that Mike, who of course was runn...

http://www.runningthegorges.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

The Long and Winding Trail. Tuesday, June 17, 2014. The last couple of weeks I've been engaging in more of a variety of activities to help recover from the Cayuga Trails 50 and prepare for the Finger Lakes 50s. Saturday, June 7, saw the Tortoise and Hare Trail Run. I took a few additional rest days and easy runs over the next several days. Thursday evening I again got some speed work in at the YMCA Corporate Challenge. Corporate Challenge 5K. (Photo: Press and Sun-Bulletin). Sunday, June 8, 2014. Is the ...

August 7, 2016 Training This year Scott and I decided we were ready to give the intermediate triathlon distance of the Cayuga Lake Triathlon a go! Run Hard. Be Strong. Think Big. July 30, 2015. Middot; 4 Comments. Only 3 days remain until the Cayuga Lake Triathlon. I’ve been in the lake 14 times since July 2nd. Prior to that I took an entire year of Total Immersion swim lessons with Shane Eversfield. During my self declared, “year of the swim” I’ve made new friends, learned to embrace the lake, and I’ve dramatically improved both my swim technique and my pool cardio fitness level. Thanks to Katie for handling the wasps for Elizabeth). By the time w...

Marathon Training Plans - Skirt Runner

http://skirtrunner.com/training/marathon

Run Hard. Be Strong. Think Big. For 2012, the annual challenge that Scott and I chose was the Rochester Marathon. We’d completed the Rochester Half. And participated in the relay. Naturally, the next step was to complete the full. I’ve since completed the Wineglass Marathon. And the Philadelphia Marathon. I chose the Hal Hidgon Novice 2 Marathon Plan. You have a nice running base, and typically run 15-25 miles per week. You occasionally/regularly compete in races. You enjoy running 4 times per week.

Sunday, December 11, 2011. Hi, I'm Mary. I took a longer break than I thought. I thought if you read this you may need a new introduction. When I started day shift back in August, I just felt like I really didn't have time to read any blogs, much less keep up with posting on my own. I feel like I've hit a rhythm. Now, so maybe I will start posting at least semi-regularly now. We will see I guess. Can you pay for something! Since I have to work on both Chrstmas Eve and Christmas day, we are having my big ...

Adventures of a mom on the run. Sunday, March 2, 2014. Was the parking lot! Barely a space available even in the less popular lot today:. Bike riders, runners, and walkers were everywhere again! I had gotten some runs in there during the winter and there were others then too, but not like today! It definitely felt like the begining of workout season! I think I was just happy to be out there though and the fact that I was that bold caught even me by surprise! Thursday, January 30, 2014.
