Running With Rocket

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 09 August, 2015. We managed to catch the rocks with the tide out at Land's End. I won't tell you exactly where that is as too many non-Oregonians have found this beach. Many of my special beaches that I grew up with that no one knew about have been discovered. It's easy to tell the non-natives as they all wear shoes and don't know the first thing about dipping their toes into the Pacific. Lots of starfish and sea. Tide coming in slowly. Sharing space with mussels.

Running With Rocket: October 2014

http://runningwithrocket.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 31 October, 2014. 29 October, 2014. Bad Ass Pinking Shears. These are the far out pinking shears I found last Saturday at an estate sale. My estate sale 'runner' usually hangs out in the Woodburn area so it was a surprise to see her in the Portland Gateway area. Which, oddly enough, is near my favorite fabric store, Fabric Depot. Her sale advertised the usual estate stuff plus YARN. Yes there was boat loads of yarn and just a wee bit of sewing notions. I found mor...

Running With Rocket: June 2015

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 28 June, 2015. Review of Della Wallet Clutch. This is the Della Wallet Clutch from Swoon Patterns. What sparked my interest was a youtube video. Posted on how to construct this wallet. It's an easy-sew wallet utilizing two squarish rectangles which you sew separately and then put them right-sides-together (RST) and sew and turn. They are then folded in half to create the clutch. You add your card slots, side flaps and handle fob before you sew RST together. I thou...

Running With Rocket: An Ode To Pencil Girl

http://runningwithrocket.blogspot.com/2015/08/an-ode-to-pencil-girl.html

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 02 August, 2015. An Ode To Pencil Girl. It is almost impossible to sew for oneself without a tailors dummy. I'm this close to making a duct tape one - except I hate the smell of duct tape. The almost 100' heat wave continues here in Oregon, making it impossible to be outside except in the early morning hours. Thank the lord we have air conditioning. And a fan. I have been sewing. Not easy projects either. Look - I sewed work shorts and a tank top. Other than that,...

Running With Rocket: February 2015

http://runningwithrocket.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 28 February, 2015. I started this bag - the Two Zip Hipster. Last weekend. This is designed by Erin of Dog Under My Desk (DUMD) and features a cross-body strap and a recessed zipper. I made one before. Out of Orange Ikea fabric:. On my first one, I followed the directions with only one minor change. This time, I changed a lot. I found a great thin suede to use as an accent piece (faux piping) and as trim on the front pocket. Purse hardware is very spendy. I fi...

Running With Rocket: September 2014

http://runningwithrocket.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

A Rambling Snapshot of my Creative Life. 30 September, 2014. Two grandkids (&family) are living with her and I thought these zippy pouches would be just the thing for them. This last Saturday, we met up. At the Flock and Fiber Festival. And both grand kids came also so it was good that I made these. Pouches Friday night after work. The pouches are off this tutorial. And measure almost 9" square. The perfect size to store die cast cars or airplanes. It's just as easy to make two as it is one. Felted purse...

http://acuppaandacatchup.com/2014/07/looks-like-a-real-one

Drop me a Line. A cuppa and a catch up. Tea craft = bliss. Looks like a real one. July 15, 2014. A real cardigan that is! Amazed myself that I made this and chuffed to bits with the result. The yarn (Madeline Tosh Merino Light in Onyx) is beautiful and so so soft and the pattern (Ochre – Okrankeltainen jakku by Veera Valimaki) was a joy to knit, with lovely little details in the eyelets and sleeve gathers. Though I like the drapey open look too. X) Blocking truly is a bit of a magical process. Pretty awe...

Tuning our heartbeat to the rhythm of the Father's. September 28, 2013. It’s really true: I’m not a little girl anymore. Turning 26 yesterday pretty much sealed the deal on that one, if there were doubts in anyone’s mind (my own included)! And what a full day it was full of love, full of people and espresso and most of my favorite regulars, and full of the reality that like it or not, I am growing up. Our kitchen on my birthday! At the end of the day, I laugh and cry in the Lord’s arms. He’s the One ...

Crafty Tokyo Mama II. Sewing and exploring in Kyoto. Scrap Vortex Quilt and Final Harry Potter Block. A friend recommended a new website to me and I immediately sewed up a couple of their bowl covers. I think these will be very handy for covering bowls of fruit and such instead of saran wrap. My scrap vortex quilt is done! One thing I learned: don’t use scraps thinner than about 1.5 inches or else they sew or are trimmed down to nubbins. Here are the marines at Iwojima…. 8230;and here are their legs.

Crafty Tokyo Mama II. Sewing and exploring in Kyoto. Keeping Busy and Harry Potter Bookcase quilt top done! Summer is unbelievably hot in Kyoto. Temperatures have been around 99 to 100 for the past couple weeks. Thunderstorms are common in the late afternoon with torrential downpours lasting a few minutes, then clear skies again. You have to close the windows and bring your laundry in when you leave the house because these storms develop very quickly. Pose with a tank. I really love these notebooks from ...

Running With Ritka... 26.2 Miles

Running With Ritka. 26.2 Miles. Monday, April 20, 2009. The title of this post pretty much sums it up for me today. But I can now say I've seen every single inch of the Sioux Falls bike trail and then some, if that says anything. But every single inch of my body and then some is pretty much is sore. Can you say "walking like a penguin? Yeah that's me, when I actually manage to walk! I'm glad it's my off day today, I would not be able to function at work today with this painful waddle. If you’re my friend on Facebook, you already know how yesterday’s Marine Corps Marathon went. I am currently in a ton of pain and can’t walk very well (way more than normal marathon soreness).
