Run This Mile: October 2014
http://www.runthismile.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
A Runner's blog about . what else? Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Richmond Marathon Training Review. With the Richmond Marathon. Less than 4 weeks away, I thought I'd recap the training as I haven't been blogging about it (what can I say, life's been busy). In addition, there were lots of calf raises (40 minimum, sometimes with weights), weighted double leg squats, hip contractions, hip drives, and of course, Bunkie. And speaking of Bunkie. There I was, 40, 41, 42 . all the way up to 50! In other words, the ...
Run This Mile: February 2014
http://www.runthismile.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
A Runner's blog about . what else? Thursday, February 27, 2014. That's another reason I'm glad I've gotten the chance to run on the course. I've seen the elevation map of course, but, at least for me, it's one thing to look at the elevation map and know in my head there's hills and that they'll be challenging, but it's another matter to physically experience those hills and physically know how long and steep they are. This week I ran. Wed: 7.5 (intervals over rolling hills). For a total mileage of 40m.
Run This Mile: Rite Aid Cleveland Half--Race Report
http://www.runthismile.com/2015/05/rite-aid-cleveland-half-race-report.html
A Runner's blog about . what else? Sunday, May 17, 2015. Rite Aid Cleveland Half- Race Report. Rite Aid, Cleveland Half Marathon. Sunday May 17, 2015. When I first thought of running this race back in oh, I don’t know, December? I had high hopes. My half marathon PR is 1:37 and I would like to bring that down to 1:35. Given that this is a relatively flat course, I thought this might be the race to do it. So what would be a realistic and reasonable goal? I prayed that we wouldn’t have 80 degrees and...

A Runner's blog about . what else? Thursday, June 25, 2015. Tips for a Newbie Marathoner. A friend of mine is training for her first marathon and asked me for tips and advice. After brainstorming a bit, I put together my top 10 for her and thought I'd share it, in no particular order- this is especially suited for training through the summer months:. I've had it happen that I've practiced with one thing and on the race, at mile 10 one time, mile 14 another, the thought of another chomp, another gel was n...
Run This Mile: April 2015
http://www.runthismile.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
A Runner's blog about . what else? Sunday, April 26, 2015. North Shore 10 Miler - Race Report. North Shore Ten Miler. Crane’s Beach MA. Sunday April 26, 2015. Originally I’d planned on running a half today—the Cheshire half. But I got an email notice about this race about a month or so ago, and it was considerably closer to where I live, plus, I’m familiar with that area so I decided that since I hadn’t signed up for the half yet, I’d go ahead and do the 10 miler instead. Go with the long thin sleeves?

I Do Not Run Aimlessly: Praying for New Life
http://idonotrunaimlessly.blogspot.com/2014/03/praying-for-new-life.html
I Do Not Run Aimlessly: a blog about running-inspired reflections on the spiritual life. Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Praying for New Life. Today I had 3x2 mile intervals to do. I do these on a nice flat stretch along the river. So I got up early and as usual somehow it takes me 30-45 minutes to get ready and drive myself over there. I suppose I should accept I'm not exactly the 'get-up-and-go' type. Or because we try to take on the job ourselves? New life at Easter. So I pray not just for help, but to...

I Do Not Run Aimlessly: a blog about running-inspired reflections on the spiritual life. Monday, April 21, 2014. It was a short ride to Hopkinton center and from there less than a mile walk to the high school which was the area set up for runners to wait until the race started. As I entered the field, I saw a mass of people—many of them spread out on the grass but more of them waiting in one of the bathroom lines. I joined one of those. Then I was through and receiving that medal I had worked so hard to ...

I Do Not Run Aimlessly: January 2014

I Do Not Run Aimlessly: a blog about running-inspired reflections on the spiritual life. Sunday, January 12, 2014. Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. On Friday I had a tempo run planned. This would be a short run but at a harder pace; as hard as I could go for 30 minutes without slowing down. The days leading up to this run, I prepared by thinking about what pace I could maintain- I can run at a 7:00 m/m pace for 2 miles but 4? Was 7:15 more realistic? If you read my previous post. In it, I talked about r...

I Do Not Run Aimlessly: a blog about running-inspired reflections on the spiritual life. Sunday, February 23, 2014. What if something else happens this year? I'm not one to dwell too much on the possibility of bad things happening, but I couldn't seem to help myself. I thought of that woman training for Boston who was killed by a drunk driver while out on her run in Richmond VA- she didn't know when she headed out that it would be her last run. Stay home because something might happen if you go out?

http://idonotrunaimlessly.blogspot.com/2014/04/derailed.html
I Do Not Run Aimlessly: a blog about running-inspired reflections on the spiritual life. Sunday, April 20, 2014. With the marathon only a few weeks away, I was tapering, winding down my training so I’d be ready and rested for the race. I started focusing more on things like what to wear, weather, how to get there, what to do for nutrition and hydration, picking up my number—all the logistical details you have to figure out at some point. But I did worry. And prayed. And asked people who asked how...IR...
