Climbing on the Tatoosh Massif. Journal entry Friday July 7th, 2006. Our trip begins at the car camp at La Wis Wis campground just outside of Rainier National Park. We stoke up a little fire, enjoy some beverages and camp cooking, and review our gear for the Saturday climb. We drive into the park and start to load up for the boost up the mountain. Journal Entry Day 1: We've driven through the wilderness of Seattle, set up a car camp on lower Ross Lake and are getting ready to start our expedition. We have a lot of food (as you can see below). The weather is beautiful and we take the boats out to collect some drift wood for a campfire. The lake is low so we cross a grassy sand/mud bar to put in but it holds up pretty firm. Here's a shot looking out under the highway bridge from our arm of the lake. Dave paddles under the pedestrian bridge.

Waldo Lake Oregon Cascades

Nestled in the Oregon Cascades is the beautiful and tenuous Waldo lake. Waldo is not large nor is it a notoriously famous lake, which makes it ideal for kayaking and canoeing. The waters are beautifully clean and clear, reflecting a tropical blue in the deeper water, deep navy blue out in the center of the lake. My pictures here of Waldo are over several trips in 2008.
