Re-enter the Samurai : | a new recyclist

The observations of an easy cyclist. Laquo; Slow SpeedRIDE – the Novocastrian 2015 Tweed Ride :. The Organic Re-Cyclist :. Re-enter the Samurai :. August 13, 2015 by petermc. Sorry, it’s been a while – and it’s been a while too since I’ve ridden the Shogun Samurai. The discipline of recycling gives me more and more ideas as I go along, and I’m always striving to make a bike fit some niche that none of my others quite will. Been lyin’ around a while. English threads – yay. They are well made hubs . The Tu...

https://rustybikebell.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/slow-speedride-the-novocastrian-2015-tweed-ride

The observations of an easy cyclist. Laquo; Pedalling Squares – Tales of the Bottom Bracket :. Re-enter the Samurai :. Slow SpeedRIDE – the Novocastrian 2015 Tweed Ride :. June 5, 2015 by petermc. Love this bike …. Ahhh, late autumn and a young person’s fancy turns to tweed. The front is radially spoked, which looks trendy but doesn’t have much vertical ‘give’ unfortunately ( short, stiff spokes ), a decision I made a while back for a different bike. Just the right amount of patina? Although this change ...

Pedalling Squares – Tales of the Bottom Bracket : | a new recyclist

https://rustybikebell.wordpress.com/2015/06/03/pedalling-squares-tales-of-the-bottom-bracket

The observations of an easy cyclist. Laquo; c.1990 ProTour CRX-100 :. Slow SpeedRIDE – the Novocastrian 2015 Tweed Ride :. Pedalling Squares – Tales of the Bottom Bracket :. June 3, 2015 by petermc. You can even recycle used tapered ones sometimes, if they’ve been reasonably cared for, though the attrition rate is very high on your typically neglected ‘chuck-out’ bikes. Of course usability depends on the chain line of your intended build, so it helps to have a variety to choose from. Although the inner p...

One Speed: Go!: In the Grasp of Night

http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2015/07/in-grasp-of-night.html

Sunday, July 5, 2015. In the Grasp of Night. What a four second exposure of a dozen Segway tourists buzzing across the Soleri Bridge looks like. This night, monsoon brewing, I felt the night grasp me, power my ride, urge me onward. Were they also in the grasp of night? Did they feel the lightning crackle? Hear the cicadas' poem? From the center of my bottom bracket, I affirm this night. Still looking good, the golden tubes. July 6, 2015 at 7:12 PM. They still sell Segways? July 6, 2015 at 7:44 PM. I comm...

One Speed: Go!: Euphoric States of the Bicycling Mind

http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2014/05/euphoric-states-of-bicycling-mind.html

Thursday, May 8, 2014. Euphoric States of the Bicycling Mind. A feeling like a waterfall of flowers is about to cascade onto me in the bike lane (tilt your head left a little bit). When riding your bicycle, do you ever experience mental states which you would consider to be meditative, euphoric, or even slightly hallucinatory? A heightened state of awareness? Imagination fueled, mind opened, dreams inflamed, daydreamer on full throttle? Small Creatures Living Next to Water. Umbrella Me with Otherness.

One Speed: Go!: June 2015

http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 29, 2015. Living in the Age of Cactus Cameras. What a lovely cactus in the middle of that new roundabout.hey wait a minute. Smile, you're on candid cactus: PV gets eyes on plates. News of these broke in all the usual places about a month and a half ago, so this is just about my little post-work ramble* to grab a couple of pictures of a camera semi-hiding in a cactus in the middle of a roundabout. From the other side, just a squat saguaro behind a gabion town sign. Thursday, June 25, 2015.

One Speed: Go!: August 2015

http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 27, 2015. How High Should We Stretch, How Far Should We Go? Quieting the voice of limits and stopping. How high should we stretch? How far should we go? Are the limits a greater force than the demands to do more? How great could we be? How much could we do? How far could we ride? How fast could we go? How happy could we be? Do what you can do, but how do you know what that might be if you don't try? Saturday, August 22, 2015. Leave It All in the Free Box at Kennedy Meadows. Man thats a l...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: Hols@Home: Ferry Ride

http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2012/08/holshome-ferry-ride.html

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, August 8. Normally, when I cross the river I cycle over using one of 3 bridges, the Graham Farmer, the Causeway or the Narrows. However, in holiday mode, I decided to do something I haven't done since childhood and take the ferry. It was free, as I'd already paid for a train ticket. (The bike is transported for free anyway, the same as on the trains.). The Surly looked as though it was travelling first class, having the whole of the 4-bay bike area to itself. The little ...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: February 2012

http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, February 15. Heathcliffe, it's me I'm . . . Oops! The bitumen and I have regular close shaves and so I'm constantly amazed that it's been over three decades since we've actually made first-hand contact. The run of good luck ended abruptly on Friday night, under cover of darkness (I'm grateful for small mercies). Not wishing to build tension to a point of anticlimax the sum total of injuries amounted to a bruised knee, a sore hip, a squashed boob and a battered ego. Comme...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: Hols@Home: Say Cheese!

http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2012/09/holshome-say-cheese.html

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Wednesday, September 5. The day was seriously threatening rain the whole time, but, the cycling gods were kind and I had my own personal pocket of sunshine for the whole trip, which didn't stop the occasional nervous glance over my shoulder. After a small amount of rain areas of farmland along the bikepath were quite swampy . . . guess what terrain the new 'burbs are built on? Along the way I stopped and purchased a bucket of sweet mandarins from a small orchard for the princely su...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: September 2011

http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Tuesday, September 20. I could say that I love Jean Pierre Sancho. Because of their delivery bike. Which is true. I could say it's my favourite patisserie because the seats are large and well upholstered (like the bottoms of regular clients). Which is also true. Friday, September 16. Dahon's Maiden Bus Trip. By taking the Dahon and, therefore, the rail replacement bus I am knocking 100kms of cycling off the tally of physical activity for the 40hrs . . . and it feels fan...I had my ...

Blithe Bicyclist . . .: December 2011

http://www.blithebicyclist.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Blithe Bicyclist . . . Tuesday, December 20. The End of the 'No-Mow' Experiment. Whilst leaving it unattended at the shops, it's easy to lock to the bike through the frame. I find for use in the 'burbs a 2-wheeled trailer is incredibly stable. It almost feels like I've put trainer wheels back on the bike! The Surly, as always, purrs like a kitten the second it has a load, settling quietly to work and allowing me to forget that I'm even pulling a trailer . . . and therein lies the rub. Friday, December 16.

Monday, January 20, 2014. Well, I sure haven't been posting on my blog lately, but I have a good excuse (I think, anyway). I've been working on my newest book, and it's now finally done! Since it's avalable only from Amazon in Kindle format, be aware that you can get a free Kindle app from Amazon—just go their main page and select Kindle and you'll see a link on that new page. Dear Fellow Adventurers,. My wife, Sarah, and I discussed this for some time, and I always felt a bit conflicted about the whole ...

Rusty Bike Wines

Rusty Bike Wines is a small boutique producer located at Houghton in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. The name “Rusty Bike” comes from the old bike sitting in our cottage garden leaning against the fence.how that bike found its way into our back yard, well that’s another story! And so Rusty Bike Wines was born. The winemaking process is traditional, the grapes being handpicked, fermented in small batches, basket pressed and followed by slow maturation in quality oak. 07 / 12 / 2014. 11 / 12 / 2014.
