Ryan Sherlock's Blog: 2014 AnPost Ras

http://ryansherlock.blogspot.com/2014/05/2014-anpost-ras.html

Racing, Cycling, Traveling and all that. Sunday, May 25, 2014. In 2014 - where do I start? Cycling balance and was happy. I had raced a lot early in the year, and two weeks out from the Ras, fatigue hit - I listened to my body, backed way off and with a week to go before the race start in Dunboyne, my body responded and I felt great - I wondered to myself - had I timed my peak perfectly? Fast forward to Sunday morning and I was lining out in Dunboyne with my team, Velotec Bretagne. Hallelujah, legs have ...

Racing, Cycling, Traveling and all that. Monday, November 10, 2014. Schwalbe Tubeless Stan's NoTubes Road wheels. In the winter, I have a fear - it goes like this, riding along on the road, pouring rain and 3 Celcius. I’m staying warm, just. Then I puncture…. Two years ago I had a set of Stan’s NoTubes Alpha Pro. About 9 months ago I got a shipment of the only released Schwalbe One Tubeless. Tires - it has changed the game, since then, 15,000km and no punctures. I’m running lower pressure (arou...I have ...

Racing, Cycling, Traveling and all that. Monday, June 08, 2015. 2015 Beskidy MTB Trophy - Stage 4. Stages four and five (the trip back to Ireland) - I don't know which was more tough! The final stage of the Beskidy MTB Trophy. I started to make progress to the boys ahead. One of the many wide rocky descents. I have raced many places around the world, and on most continents but I have to admit that the last 5 days (including the day before riding around) has been some of the most fun, challenging and beau...

Ryan Sherlock's Blog: 2014 Irish Mountain Bike Marathon Championships

http://ryansherlock.blogspot.com/2014/09/2014-irish-mountain-bike-marathon.html

Racing, Cycling, Traveling and all that. Sunday, September 28, 2014. 2014 Irish Mountain Bike Marathon Championships. Although it doesn’t seem so over the last year, I really do enjoy writing posts. A very busy mix of working, training and racing has meant that sitting down in front of my laptop and writing more isn’t usually on the top of my TODO list. Having said that, I always have motivation for writing about a national championship that went well…. MTB Marathon Racing in Lithuania. Top of Hodor Clim...

The training and tribulations of a Budding MTB'r (and dad). Saturday, September 22, 2012. 2012 XC Marathon Champs. In a very below average year, this was going to be the big one for me. The National Marathon Champs is the one race that motivates me than any other. You get the countries top riders on the most challenging course, in terms of distance, climbing and techy-ness. Then the race began in earnest. My plan was the same as when I won in 2010. This was tricky first time around with some brakes, but ...

The training and tribulations of a Budding MTB'r (and dad). Wednesday, January 25, 2012. 2012 setback number 1. Got some weird head cold / sinus thing. Has totally flattened me since last Friday. And things were going okish too. I'd not started on the Turbo trainer, but was planning on doing a bit this week. I don't think I can do much more than put the feet up and take it easy (well as much as you can with 2 kids). I won't be stressing about not hitting my training plan that's for sure :). I used the bi...

Sean Downey: CX Nationals - a race too far

http://seandowney.blogspot.com/2012/04/cx-nationals-race-too-far.html

Wednesday, April 18, 2012. CX Nationals - a race too far. This one has stewing in the editor for a while, much like the experience stews in my head. The final (and finale! Of the CX season is the National Champs in St Anne's Park, taking place a month after the last race in Ireland. It's a chance to see who trained hard over Christmas and who over-indulged on the turkey and Roses. It's also a chance to see who has remained healthy over the cold, wet period, and that was where I fell down. The experience ...

When is an achievement not an achievement. April 1, 2014. Recently I’ve found myself wondering if some of the work I do is really worth it. And I’m not talking about civilization level cancer research type is it worth it, but is it worth it just on my level, for me. Completing a large work goal, yes it helps them the company, and you might feel great about it. Will you be remembered for it? Will you yourself even remember it in a few weeks? What about a few months? Do you even know where you are going?

Sean Downey: March 2011

http://seandowney.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Early season road racing. The first MTB race is just around the corner, so up to now I've been focussing on some early season road racing to get some race sharpness in the legs - and there's nothing like a good road race for some AC training. Ras Naomh Finian, Clonard. The race was remarkable only for the fact that it was cold, wet and windy. And there was snow! St Patrick's Day race, Dunboyne. The second race was the St Patrick's Day race in Dunboyne, promoted by Usher IRC.
