Just to take one obvious example, at home, I'm not a criminal. Here in Poland, on the other hand, I have spent the past 20 days flouting the law. I had been warned: one of my friends here told me several times that Polish police give tickets for jaywalking. She knows people it's happened to. It's a thing here. I thought I was untouchable.
