Part III: Traveling Companions | My Sabbatical on Amtrak
https://sabbaticalonamtrak.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/part-iii-traveling-companions
My Sabbatical on Amtrak. Part III: Traveling Companions. December 5, 2004. Traveling by train is not like most other forms of travel. Usually, it is the destination that is the reward, not the journey itself. Whether traveling by plane or by car, you usually just want to get to your destination, when your trip really begins. But a trip on a train, for whatever reason, can become part–or all–of the trip itself. After we settle in, who’ll join us for drinks? The first round is on us.”. 8221; I said no, and...
Part VIII: Chicago | My Sabbatical on Amtrak
https://sabbaticalonamtrak.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/part-viii-chicago
My Sabbatical on Amtrak. Note: I took a lot of notes for this post, but never actually wrote it up. Here, for posterity’s sake, is my writeup on my stay in Chicago. December 18, 2014. The Lake Shore Limited. And prepare for the final journey home. That first day, after checking in and spending some time resting in my room, I took a brief, exploratory walk around the immediate area with the primary goal of finding an ATM where I could replenish my dwindling cash supply. I stepped outside the hotel tha...
Part IV: Space Coast | My Sabbatical on Amtrak
https://sabbaticalonamtrak.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/part-iv-space-coast
My Sabbatical on Amtrak. Part IV: Space Coast. December 8, 2004. The first thing I thought of when I realized that the Sunset Limited terminates in Orlando was Disney World. Then I looked at a map of Florida and realized that there was a far more important reason for me to go to Florida: the Kennedy Space Center. The Kennedy Space Center (and Cape Canaveral – they are two different places) is an amazing place. For one thing, it sits within the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Did you catch that?
Part VII: New York City | My Sabbatical on Amtrak

My Sabbatical on Amtrak. Part VII: New York City. December 17, 2004. Actually, Manhattan; except for the cruise I took around the island, I never did get off the island. But even given the amount of time I had three and a half days there was more than I could possibly see right there in Manhattan. The hotel I stayed in the Union Square Inn. One of the first places I went to was Times Square. What a zoo! So where do you get away from all of the people? Where can you find a bit of peace in this urban zoo?
Part I: The Rationale | My Sabbatical on Amtrak

If only i could tell you. Exactly what i’m thinking. It would be a great speech. Nothing would i hold back. No need to supress. Words from my mouth. Listen till you hear this. This is our year. Turn the lights off. Let’s reset this heart of mine. With your touch i feel alive. Can we keep this up all night? I can hear your pulse in time. Just a moment alone. I watched the moon rise as the sun set. I said my goodbyes to your face. We had some good times and some upsets. Overcast skies, rain, and teardrops.
Sabbatically Challenged Nerd | Covering my "Genre" entertainement views (usually well after the fact)
Covering my Genre entertainement views (usually well after the fact). Quick Thoughts: Lost Episode 6-10: The Package. I’ve been liking this season of Lost, more than most of the others. I like the overall sweeping arc of it. I enjoy the flash-sideways. I like that things are coming to a head. Yes, we’re getting too close to the end, and there will be hundreds of questions not answered. That’s for another day. Continue reading →. WrestleMania Thoughts and Predictions. Continue reading →. My Sabbatical on Amtrak. Part IX: Heading Home. Note: I took a lot of notes for this post, but never actually wrote it up. Here, for posterity’s sake, is my final installment. December 20, 2014. Saturday, December 18, I awoke early in my sumptous suite at the Doubletree in Chicago, excited to get going. I was heading home! 8220;Down” explains why the entrance is so nondescript, and why it looks like you are simply entering an office building. What you see from the outside. The Producer's Chair
The Producer's Chair. November 15, 2009 · 3:36 pm. Happy moments on the set. Are movie and TV sets fun? They can be notoriously difficult worksites. We’re all used to hearing certain people grumble on the set….they’re not being paid enough; the food is terrible; their co-workers aren’t pulling their weight; the hours are unreasonable; etc. etc. It’s very easy to complain about the hardships. But what about those moments when magic happens? Do these same people even notice? Filed under On Set. Perhaps thi...
