May | 2014 | One Bite at a Time...

https://sailforthandseek.wordpress.com/2014/05

Dealing with braces and jaw surgery. One Bite at a Time…. Monthly Archives: May 2014. Another one bites the dust? One step closer to the edge? How long do they wait until they make a decision on that? For those of you that have Class III Malocclusions, did you have to have both? Was there ever a choice? Can upper only correct asymmetry? I wanted to document the swelling from this procedure and compare later to the actual surgery. I really didn’t well much with the wisdom teeth extractions…. May 28, 2014.

March | 2014 | One Bite at a Time...

https://sailforthandseek.wordpress.com/2014/03

Dealing with braces and jaw surgery. One Bite at a Time…. Monthly Archives: March 2014. Today was the day! Expander out and top braces on. My teeth are not happy right now. Definitely a soup for lunch and a lot of coffee day to get through work when I get in. I will post some braced pictures as well later to document from now. I’m off to make a smoothie and get ready to leave for my half work day. It is nice being able to speak clearly again! Pictures of top braces and current bite. March 25, 2014.

January | 2014 | One Bite at a Time...

https://sailforthandseek.wordpress.com/2014/01

Dealing with braces and jaw surgery. One Bite at a Time…. Monthly Archives: January 2014. It is only the start…. Visited the ortho for a check-in on Monday. I’m stuck in the expander for another six weeks (at least) even though I’m not sure it 100% did what it was supposed to do. I definitely have a gap (that hasn’t closed much yet), but I think they were hoping for more expansion. However, my bottom teeth are definitely moving! I’m having a hard time smiling and even talking these days. My fam...It is o...

Dealing with braces and jaw surgery. One Bite at a Time…. Well I’m still here! Bigger gap in between front teeth and some stuff moving on bottom. Will post some pictures and catch up on everyone else’s blogs this weekend! January 10, 2014. After about two weeks with expander and lower braces. The expander does seem to be doing something (noting the slight gap between my front teeth). December 1, 2013. 1/2 Braces 1 Expander = :. November 20, 2013. Newer posts →. It is only the start….

October | 2013 | One Bite at a Time...

https://sailforthandseek.wordpress.com/2013/10

Dealing with braces and jaw surgery. One Bite at a Time…. Monthly Archives: October 2013. I had my expander impression done on Tuesday last week (and they took the god-awful spacers out). Now that I can chew again, I’m eating all of the sticky, crunchy, chewy things I can before doomsday (11/11)…when I get the spacers back in again. 8211; Insurance coverage. 8211; How much time off from running will I have to take after surgery. Anyone have any thoughts on either of these? October 27, 2013. Help me expan...

Recovery is getting a lot easier now! Zero pain, some discomfort… but mostly I am just waiting for my swelling to go down and my bones to heal so I can finally chew (and get this damn splint out of my mouth). Next appointment will be exactly a month after surgery AND I WILL BE REMOVING MY SPLINT! I AM BARING MY SWOLLEN FACE FOR THE INT...

When we last met, summer had just begun and I was closing in on my one-year anniversary of bracedom. Today, there is snow on the ground, and spring is lurking nearby (probably behind the Bradford pear at my folks’ house). I still have braces. An English Major's Adventures in Adult Orthodontia. About the Orthodontia’d One. A Picture’s Worth a Thousand…. Got the ol’ braces adjusted. Yeahhhhhh, I’d meant to have pictures to post with this to make it a proper update. In fact, I. Have all the pictures from my past three orthodontist visits all ready to post! And hopefully in animated form. *determined*. In lieu of that, however, I’ve provided a rundown of this latest round’s dealio. What’re your orthodontia accessories? What sort, would you say?

So… About Those Jaw Exercises… | BraceForIt

https://braceforit.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/so-about-those-jaw-exercises

April 10, 2014. So… About Those Jaw Exercises…. Remember when I admitted that my surgeon’s millimetre expectations were causing me a certain level of anxiety? Apparently…that was justified! Fast forward again to my appointment. My surgeon approaches with his trusty ruler and WHAT? I was only measuring 20 mm! I was about to walk out with my head hung in shame when I said, ‘Look, please hand me those tongue depressors! I’ll prove it! 8217; I piled them up, shoved them in my mouth and BOOM! Oh but wait....

Day 30 – Before and After (Exciting Changes!) | BraceForIt

https://braceforit.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/day-30-before-and-after-exciting-changes

April 10, 2014. Day 30 – Before and After (Exciting Changes! FINALLY, I have a few minutes to breathe, rest, and check in with everyone! I’m officially back to myself from a work perspective…so in classic style, it has taken over my life! I’ve spent the remainder of each day resting up from pure mental exhaustion (and a little joint pain from my jaw stretching exercises). It’s hard to believe it’s been an entire month since surgery. Time is FLYING! I Didn’t Disappear – I Swear! Day 31 – I Can Chew! I can...

Day 37 – I LOVE MY FACE!! | BraceForIt

https://braceforit.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/day-37-i-love-my-face

April 10, 2014. Day 37 – I LOVE MY FACE! So much so, that I treated my new face to a new ‘do’ 🙂. I’m amazed at how much change has occurred in the last week from minor loses in swelling! My chin is evening out, my cheek bones are becoming more pronounced and I can’t help but stare all the time when I catch myself with my lips shut. It’s still such a foreign concept for me but one that I am incredibly delighted in. So… About Those Jaw Exercises…. Day 42 – Slow and Steady →. April 13, 2014 at 4:53 am.

February | 2014 | BraceForIt

https://braceforit.wordpress.com/2014/02

February 26, 2014. Nine hours to go! Made it through a full day of back and forth ortho/dental appointments and the final hours at work! Enjoyed a massive and delicious beef burger and home cut fries with the fam for my ‘last chewable meal’. Hoping to get in a few decent hours of sleep if I can get my mind to rest. Here goes! Ready to jump in with both feet and get this over with! I’m ready for Kim 2.0 😉. February 25, 2014. One More Day – Is This Really Happening? Keep me posted 🙂. February 23, 2014.

April | 2014 | BraceForIt

https://braceforit.wordpress.com/2014/04

April 10, 2014. Day 42 – Slow and Steady. Changes have started to slow down quite a bit now. I understand why many bloggers start to ‘drift’ or disappear around this point. BUT, since my orthodontist says that what you see at month one, versus, month two, three and four are often quite different….I’ll stick around 😉. I also need to work on how I open my mouth. My bottom jaw seems to have a tendency of opening slightly off centred. One day at a time! April 10, 2014. Day 37 – I LOVE MY FACE! Prior to surg...

Saturday, February 12, 2011. Update 11th February '11. Just a note about where we're at and what we're up to. So let me tell you a bit about Martinique. It's a "Department" of France, meaning a kind of county of France, so just like anywhere else in France - in theory! Before Les Trois Ilets we were in Grande Anse D'Arlet, another pretty holiday village, which was great for swimming, but there was no transport if you didn't own a car, and the only shops were of the small corner shop variety. So last ...

Sail Forth - Japan Chapter | Well Here Goes

Sail Forth – Japan Chapter. August 10, 2011 by sailforth. Everything lives on and builds upon itself, stalagmite-like, in the belly of the internets. Amazed to Google myself this morning, and to see Sailforth pop up at the top of the screen. If ever I believed I was a static creature, the first page of Google Results is enough to remind me that nothing stays the same, that all definitions of ‘self’ are relative in time and place and space. Hah. This current/next chapter can’t fit quite so neatly in...

Sailing on the High Plains : Sail Fort Peck

Places : FORT PECK ,MONTANA. How weird is this? Right in the middle of the least populated part of the west, where cows outnumber humans and where annual rainfall is from 9 to 12 inches per year; there is the 5. Largest man made lake in the United States. Fort Peck Lake is located on the Missouri river (the longest river in the United States.). When the dam was built (1934-1940) it took 11,000 workers and the town where construction was being done had a population of 50,000. Toward the bottom end of the ...
