Sailing Luna Sea : One Action a Day, One Day at a Time
http://www.sailinglunasea.blogspot.com/2015/06/one-action-day-one-day-at-time.html
One Action a Day, One Day at a Time. We've been cranking along around here, finishing projects left and right - while also adding new ones as we run across them. Thankfully, nothing large has come to light - just small projects, usually improving our storage/organization, etc. But, I admit it, I occasionally get lazy or bored. I'm also heading to the post office to drop off my passport renewal application. That TWO steps in ONE day! But guess what - it doesn't mean I can get lazy tomorrow. I have to ...
Sailing Luna Sea : Lazy Jack Bag? Check!
http://www.sailinglunasea.blogspot.com/2015/06/lazy-jack-bag-check.html
So a while back I mentioned. That a new Lazy Jack bag was in the works. While it's taken me ages to do the update, it only took a week to do the project! I did it in the afternoons, after work, so not even close to a full week's worth of hours) That is so much faster than I thought this dreaded project would go. It looked so intricate hanging on the boat - and it was! Original bag - even has a patch where the Moorings logo was, eons ago. Laying out the old bag to use as a template. Because it's a "custom...

Here are some of the blogs I read on a regular basis. (We follow a million of them, so I'm just going to link to the blogs I read regularly.). Where the Coconuts Grow. Okay, so they're not on a boat right now, but I still follow). G and Boom Times Sailing. Hers and His blogs about a year at sea - just returned to Canada). Matt and Jessica Sailing. Bo and Allison Sail Around the World. No longer on the boat, but loads of gorgeous pics of their trip. An entertaining documentation of their year out exploring.

Sailing Luna Sea : To Do/Buy List
http://www.sailinglunasea.blogspot.com/p/to-do-list.html
Here's a list of planned projects - both large and small! But so far mostly small. Treat teak on cockpit benches and companion way handles. Now I want to sand down and varnish. Replaced with King StarBoard (white plastic-y stuff). Seal a/c vent (large gaps around aft cabin vent). Remove Pleiades from everything for name changing ceremony. Rebuild/recover bench lid - needs hinge. Get local charts for chart plotter. Found them on existing software! Used vinyl window cling. What crazing! Make bed sleepable -.

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Don't get me wrong, it's been so nice to see everyone, but we're not back in our old apartments with our favourite and familiar places and spots (we still don't have an apartment! So we haven't gone back to the life we knew and missed here, it's all very new and different and it's hard. It's freezing, it's fall in August! The one question that people often ask that I always have an answer to is "would you ever do it again? Got to spend some time with this cutie! 12 hrs after we ...

Tuesday, April 29, 2014. We Officially Chose the Best Winter to Miss! Everytime we speak to friends and family back home all we hear is how bad the winter is, how it is never going to end (not sure that it has yet, so this might not be funny for those of you still suffering! Point is, I am meant for more tropical climates, and while people always complain about winter, this year was actually the worst. It has actually been proven that this has been the worst winter from 1898 in Winnipeg! It really happen...

Friday, March 28, 2014. Dexter and I have a Scare. Dexter and I both came into some unfortunate situations, Dexter, luckily, came out unscathed. I on the other hand, was not quite as lucky. I'll start with Dexters scare. Mine is much less romantic, and slightly more dangerous. I was cooking dinner as usual. I lit the oven. I went back to check on it and noticed that it had gone out so I went to re-light it, and KABOOM! So now John will give me a break in the kitchen and take over for a while (yeah right!
Ladylike Sailing: July 2014

Wednesday, July 30, 2014. After we enjoyed our last sunset and evening at anchor, we woke up and got moving at the crack of dawn (I'm talking 5am people! Because we still had 28 miles to go with a very strong current against us. While under way, we hit a milestone of 6000 nautical miles travelled aboard Topanga, which is 6905 miles and 11112 kilometers, not too shabby if I do say so myself! We finally made it to Montreal! Holy crappers, we did 6000 miles! They even had a fireworks show to welcome us back!

More School Test Stuff. Best Husband. Ever. →. January 8, 2015. Because I’m wishing them to have a happy holiday and those are the holidays they celebrate. This rant brought to you by me stumbling across an “explanation” of why people use gesundheit so much in America.) Why. Use a neutral phrase? Why do people think that’s a negative thing, to be accepting of others regardless of their beliefs (or lack thereof)? Think women should have equal rights? Anyone in a first-world country, anyway? Driving a Fountaine-Pajot Helia 44
http://turftosurf.com/in-the-drivers-seat
In the driver’s seat. August 6, 2015. As the date of completion of our new Fountaine-Pajot. Helia grows near, I am increasingly aware that Ryan and I are going to have to get this boat off the dock in La Rochelle and take it out to sea. Which means I’m spending a lot of time staring at the dock, at the sharp edges on the end of the pontoon, at the obstacles in and around the marina and at the current that rips along the stern of. So whereas Ryan has just gained an electric windlass for his anchor, which ...

Who, what, where, when and why. Other Blogs We Dig! A few months ago I decided it was time for me to take a sailing course. I did a quick search, knowing I wanted something ASA Certified. The options can be overwhelming! Did I want a package deal in an exotic location? Did I want a bare-bones course close to home? Or maybe something in the enormous. We have owned and used our boat for 2 years now - why do I even need a course? I want to know more. I want to know. What was my decision? I don't know yet...
