Green adventures on the blue seas. Photos & Video. Places we’ve been. Fiction & Creative Writing. A Dog’s Life. This Week On Board. August 25, 2011. This week on board:. The lovely Laurie came and went. We enjoyed probably the last beach in Greece where farmers still herd their sheep. We finally left Naxos and sailed to Amorgos. There was a serious hearts craze. We sailed to Kalymnos. Ronan enjoyed the joys of pajama sailing. What did you do this week? October 14, 2011 at 12:54 PM. August 25, 2011 at 8:2...

Wind me up

http://sailingondine.com/2011/08/22/wind-me-up

Green adventures on the blue seas. Photos & Video. Places we’ve been. Fiction & Creative Writing. A Dog’s Life. August 22, 2011. We sailed from Naxos to Amorgos today. Before we left, I looked at the weather forecast, plotted the course accordingly and left with two reefs in the main as the meltemi (the local north wind) was forecast to blow at 20-25 knots and that usually means it’ll be gusting beyond 30 knots (up to 35 mph). At one point we were travelling. Faster than the waves. I can only assume that...

Adventures with the Singing Frogs: December 2010

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Sunday, December 12, 2010. Getting ready for Nana and Kermit's arrival. We're all so excited that Nana (and her good friend, Kermit the Frog) are coming to join us aboard Singing Frog. Apparently, Kermit insisted on coming along after he heard the name of our boat. And he's been practicing singing in the shower for the past month or so, in preparation. Laundry to me, in the galley. The next flight is due to arrive at 6:10pm. Let's hope she makes that one. Adventures with the Singing Frogs: Big Day on our Transformer/Sailboat

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2011/06/big-day-on-our-transformersailboat.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Thursday, June 30, 2011. Big Day on our Transformer/Sailboat. Water and it ripples, those are shoals . better on the other side which is the far bank in a curve; more current on the far, steep bank which usually means deeper water. This worked quite well with only one more grounding in 3 hours. Weve been following the ICW creed of go slow! June 30, 2011 at 9:14 PM. Yikes, that explosion sounds like a heart-stopper! Someone wasnt sure how to operate their stove or what?

Adventures with the Singing Frogs: Hunting in Florida for an Endangered Species

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2011/07/hunting-in-florida-for-endangered.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Monday, July 4, 2011. Hunting in Florida for an Endangered Species. None of the dealers have anything that works for us, so the next step is to start calling the 30 or so matching craigslist ads for private sales. And we're considering doing the trip by tenting it (with a few motel stops I'm sure) in a mini-van or something cheaper/more available. But that's all going to have to wait until after the 4th of July celebrations! July 4, 2011 at 11:29 AM. Fish in the head?

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Thursday, February 24, 2011. Just a short post as I stumble through a French keyboard in a comfortably air-conditioned cyber base in beautiful Diamant. We have rented a minivan for today and tomorrow and plan to see La Pagerie, the birth place of Empress Josephine, and play on the zip lines at Mangofil. Friday, February 18, 2011. Good-Bye St. Lucia. Getting to tour around the sulphur springs and hanging out close to volcanic activity. Swimming in volcanic mud. Having a ...

Adventures with the Singing Frogs: May 2011

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Sunday, May 29, 2011. Yesterday morning, in White Bay, Peter Island, BVI, Aidan enthusiastically woke me up around 6:15am to show me all the action and new creatures he's been watching off our bow. He told me about a fish he saw, with eyes "this big! Indicating a circle with his hand, about 5cm in diameter. Once I dragged myself out of my berth to join him, I was amused at his ongoing monologue about what he was witnessing. "Oh, oh, here comes some action! A fruit bat*,...

Adventures with the Singing Frogs: November 2010

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. It's only been one month? Holy rolly anchorages and big dark rain squalls Batman! We must have entered a time warp. It really feels like it's been closer to three months. One month doesn't seem like much of a milestone. I mean, it's no more than a long-ish vacation right? What's the big deal? Sunday, November 28, 2010. Watch out for that crazy dinghy driver! Skye said, “No, you need the practice anyway.”. We tried again, now that I was hopele...

Adventures with the Singing Frogs: March 2011

http://blog.svsingingfrog.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Adventures with the Singing Frogs. Sunday, March 27, 2011. Bioluminescence in the Biffy. It can be quite astonishing to use the head in the darkness of night, and watch neon purple glow-worms flush down the toilet. In anchorages where the water doesn't circulate well, this has been our experience. Last week, in Simpson Bay Lagoon, I even noticed a purple glow passing through our white sanitation hoses. It also creeps us out enough that we NEVER swim at anchor in lagoons ;). Saturday, March 19, 2011.

Sailing on Dreams | Playing mind games with Soul

The good, the bad and the energy. Here’s the thing. July 24, 2015. If you’d start a religion today, would you ban or allow violent video games? The reason why I ask, is that my sister gave me Grand Theft Auto V for my birthday. Playing it brought me back to my teenage years, when a big part of my worries could be narrowed down to the question: “how can I beat the next boss and get into the next level? 8221; It also helped me see this game for what it really is: a piece of art.
