Salford Friendly Anglers Society News Blog: Anti Cormorant Cages For The Old River

http://salfordfriendlyanglers.blogspot.com/2013/03/anti-cormornt-cages-for-old-river.html

Wednesday, 27 March 2013. Anti Cormorant Cages For The Old River. Over the last few months, the Old River has been plagued by cormorants munching down on our newly stocked fish. So as were not allowed to shoot them, or trap them, the only thing we can do is create fish refuges - to enable our fish stocks to hide from the black death. If your not a fisherman - please don't think us anglers don't like water birds - WE DO! In the near future (9th April) we are going to hold another work party where we will ...

Thursday, 25 October 2012. A Sea Trout from the River Mersey - if you catch anything that you might think is a Sea Trout or Salmon on the River Irwell - please please please take a scale sample and contact us at admin@salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk so that we can arrange to collect it. The EA will not accept photos as evidence that migratory fish are returning to the Irwell system - scale samples or dead fish are the only acceptable proof. (please dont kill them! Heres another slimmer Mersey Sea Trout.

Saturday, 25 August 2012. Old River Irwell Irlam Restoration Plan. Back in November 2011 we embarked on our first major restoration project - Drinkwater Park Lake near Agecroft. We set out our objectives and the seven steps we would undertake to achieve them. I'm glad to say that our hard work has made a huge difference, and I will write a full update when the full year is up in November 2012. You cant tackle a project like this without a starting plan - so here is ours for the Old River. The bankside ve...

Salford Friendly Anglers Society News Blog: An Awesome Trout

http://salfordfriendlyanglers.blogspot.com/2013/07/an-awesome-trout.html

Tuesday, 16 July 2013. The bar has been raised yet again by Irwell fisherman Andy Boyne - with the capture of this tremendous Brown Trout which weighed in at 12lb 2oz. What an amazing fish! Please don't expect me to give up the location - I value my kneecaps. However, I can tell you that this spotted beast had a taste for boillies. Has the Irwell become the Mecca for big wild browns in England? Congratulations Andy on the fish of a lifetime. 18 August 2013 at 05:02. 26 March 2015 at 23:56. Has a good sha...

We travelled up to Warrington to fish for Pike this weekend, at a venue called Longbarn pool or "the brick pits" as it is know locally. North West Angling: Founders

http://northwestangling.blogspot.com/2012/02/founders.html

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. Saturday, 25 February 2012. After not been able to get out fishing for a while due to work and frozen lakes I decided to book a day off and do a 24 hour trip to Founders on the Lymm card. I have only joined Lymm this year and this was my first trip out to one of their waters. Founders is a small water situated in the middle of a golf course but holds carp to the mid twenties. There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. Friday, 6 January 2012. Me and Paul went out after pike again between Christmas and New Year.
