Monthly Archives: November 2012. November 27, 2012. So I think I’ve had that experience that so many people told me I would have abroad… the one where you get lost, things DO NOT go as planned, and it turns out better (although very different) than you thought. Last weekend a group of classmates and I went to Hualien (see the photos just uploaded! What we stumbled upon next was a center of little shops full of aboriginal Taiwanese gifts, tea shops, and a Mochi store! Don’t Be Deceived! November 12, 2012.

Monthly Archives: October 2012. October 14, 2012. This past Wednesday (10/10) was Taiwan’s National Day. This meant a day off from school, mostly to study for Thursday’s midterm (! But also an opportunity to celebrate! The most interesting part of the morning, for a politics junkie like myself, was the presence of these two giant banners on either side of the flag, easy to see and read, written in both Chinese and English:. Of course A UN report came out in 1969 claiming the POSSIBILITY of an oil and gas...

I will be living in Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, located in the north, but also plan to travel around the Island. I look forward to a challenging semester where I gain a language, while making friends and exploring a new place and culture. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. December 2, 2012. With the Taipei Zoo only two bus stops away from campus, it’s a little crazy it took me so long to finally check it out. I finally had some time recently to go (if you’re ever in Taiwan, go on a rainy day! No lines for the Pandas! It dates back to the Tang Dynasty when Empress Wu gifted pandas to Japan. The US received their first two pandas after Nixon’s historic visit. It’s China’s unique way to practice diplomacy with nations it has developed certain relations with. November 27, 2012.

September 17, 2012. I guess part of the novelty for me is the fact that it has endless meaning, yet no translation. Enjoy! All in one: time, space, air, void. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Saturday, September 27, 2014. We got together to pick apples in celebration of my daddy's birthday today! What great weather we had! It was actually a bit 'too hot' for us. We opted to pick from the Honey Crisp section (which are a personal fave of mine), so most of our time was spent there! Happy Birthday Daddy. maybe I'll bake you an apple pie! Friday, August 29, 2014. Since Ron took Jacen to Fan Expo today, I decided to take Jaina with me to the Ex! Oh, and my brother came too. Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Sally in Norfolk | Twitterings of a Twitterer

Twitterings of a Twitterer. GEA (Grande Escursion Appenninica). This summer we decided to visit Gran Canaria so Geoff. Could decide if he would like to spend the winter months over in the sun. We had 6 glorious days up in the mountains at the Parador Cruz de Tejeda. We spent these 6 days walking, enjoying the spa and eating steak every night, well I ate the steak while Geoff being a vegetarian had fish and he will never no what he missed out on! Our 6 day stay was walking to this Roque. Had a lovely pool...

Stories of South Korean Adventures

Stories of South Korean Adventures. Thursday, March 25, 2010. I bought a new bag for my trip. It seemed to be the right move. I didn't want to get charged an arm and a leg for an overweight bag. And I knew that when I went to Japan I would want to do at least a little shopping. When I arrived in Narita airport, the crowds of foreigners with different mother tongues stimulated me as I waited in the immigration line. I kept wanting to ask, "Where are you from? My old Japanese friend is just the same. I'm w...

Sally in St. Louis

Sally in St. Louis. A Southern girl's venture to the Midwest. Friday, July 6, 2012. Chicago is my kind of town. You couldn't even see the other side, it was like looking out over an ocean not a lake! For dinner that night we went to a place recommended by our friends who are locals. The restaurant was called Epic and it was, well pretty epic! Underneath the silver bean. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. 1 1/2 cups finely crushed graham crackers. 1 6-oz package chocolate chips. 1 16-oz package butterscotch chips.

Sally in the Galley

Sally in the Galley. Tuesday, October 11, 2011. What's Up With This Blog. When I first started blogging, I wanted the name "Sally in the Galley." Alas, it was already taken, and I began blogging as Galley Sally. Now, "Sally in the Galley" has ended her blog, and I'm trying to decide if I want to transition my blog to this site, or stay with the old. In the meantime, I have registered this name, and I'd love it if you checked out my recipes and discussions on boat life at:. Posted by Jess Kruger.
