http://thisnthat-totnes.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 May 2009. What a great day out! Mr Fixit and I had a rare Saturday out together today to visit the Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury. I am aware that many of my followers will not only know of the event but were there as customers or sellers. All that I can say to everyone else is . "Find out when and where the November 2009 V and H Fair is to be held and move heaven and earth to go! Then, all other goodies were revealed! And finally, where did we end the day's browsing? Arts Awa...

Used-to-Bees: Learning to let go and other adventures
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2014/03/learning-to-let-go-and-other-adventures.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Sunday, 23 March 2014. Learning to let go and other adventures. I have been brave! I've been thinking about it for ages, but never quite plucked up the courage. But finally, after a bit of research in a self-help manual, I managed to relax and let go. I dropped those feed dogs and had a go at free-motion machine embroidery! The self-help manual was this one. Which, needless to say can be found on Amazon.co.uk. I had discovered Sulky.

Used-to-Bees: Recent days and weekend plans
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2014/03/recent-days-and-weekend-plans.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Thursday, 6 March 2014. Recent days and weekend plans. Still struggling with those post titles. Anyway, life has been doing that thing, rolling along merrily, so time for an update. I had another go at my beach hut block, this time after purchasing a little stack of Liberty fat quarters specifically for that purpose. Clare and Emily for the sand. Rosy Blue for the sky. Petal and bud for the door. I started a new blog! They're still ver...

Used-to-Bees: July 2013
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Sunday, 21 July 2013. Tracks of my Years - 1975. Margaret Thatcher became leader of the Conservative Party. The first Inspector Morse novel, 'Last Bus to Woodstock' was released whilst the last 'Poirot' novel -'Curtain' - by Agatha Christie, was published. The seeds of a huge change were sown in 1975. And Microsoft registered as a trademark. Can't see any of those becoming desirable classics! And 'Bernie, the Bolt! The only one I saw!

Used-to-Bees: Sunday Sewing AKA 'I Want to Drown in a Bucket of Gin'

Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Tuesday, 11 March 2014. Sunday Sewing AKA 'I Want to Drown in a Bucket of Gin'. Quote from Heather on last week's 'Great British Sewing Bee'.). So on Saturday, it was all going swimmingly. Pretty pattern, sweet fabric, uninterrupted time to stitch away, great instructions, resulting in a lovely dress. On Sunday, just one of the ingredients changed and it all went pear shaped! Pretty pattern - check. Sweet fabric - check. So I tried the...

Used-to-Bees: Makes
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/p/makes.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. I'll apologise for the quality and poor colour of the following photos right here at the start. One of these days (when I have made my fortune) I will get a camera that is capable of decent close-ups! So far I've still managed without a hoop, mainly because I can't be bothered to delve far enough under the sofa to find one. Start off as if for blanket stitch, but make the needle come out below and slightly to the left of the thread.

Used-to-Bees: January 2014
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Thursday, 16 January 2014. A certain amount of busy-ness. Has actually been going on around here! Hence the protracted silence on the blog front, of course. But now, with Mr U-t-B away for quite a few days, he has said that he likes to see what I've been doing on my blog, so could I please? So here we go again, with a bit of a catch-up. First, I was whisked away for a few days in the mountains. Lucky me! Our Christmas meal wasn't quite...

Used-to-Bees: August 2013
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Thursday, 8 August 2013. Rag Bag Rescue - East Dress. A little while back a pretty kaftan came into the charity warehouse. It was too faded and rubbed at the bound edges to go into one of the shops to sell, so I asked if I could do a transformation on it. Here it is before I got to work with the scissors! The colours are really pretty, and I love the Indian block print type fabric. Being a kaftan, there was plenty of fabric to work with.

Used-to-Bees: Basic Embroidery Stitches
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/p/embroidery-stitches.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Blanket stitch (which is basically the same as buttonhole stitch, just more spread out) is very useful for both stitching two pieces of fabric together and for decoration. I use it for practically everything I make out of wool felt, but here are a couple of examples. Blanket stitch used partly to attach and partly to decorate on a brooch. Blanket stitch used to stitch shoe parts together. Pull through all the way, but don't overtighten!

Used-to-Bees: December 2013
http://used-to-bees.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Pinterest sucked me in. All of a twitter. Spindles and other stories. Wednesday, 18 December 2013. Choose a book to read, I wonder? I know that I am a sucker for an appealing front cover, a point that was brought home to me with one of my last two 'finishes', Tracy Chevalier's 'The Last Runaway'. As I am away from home at the moment and wanted to write a post, I googled images and found four different front covers. So would I have selected this book? Perhaps - I like to be helped to imagine. Whatever it ...
