Chronicles of Oxford

Thursday, August 21, 2008. Oxford: The Year in Review. First, I must apologize (or apologise? I think that, interestingly enough, my experiences of Oxford fall mostly into three distinct groups, which only really started to overlap toward the end of the academic year. The Thames Path. My favorite form of therapy during the most intense part of the year. A selection of the housemates and myself on a camping trip in Cornwall. From left to right: Tommy, Jen, Dan, Bert, and me. Part of the main university.

Chronicles of Oxford: Oxford Myths & Legends

http://sarahatoxford.blogspot.com/2007/10/oxford-myths-legends.html

Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Oxford Myths and Legends. During my first couple of weeks as an Oxford student, I've been regaled by the older grad students with all sorts of myths and legends about Oxford student life. Here follows a short selection of things I've been told that I don't (quite) believe:. 1 In the infamous Balliol vs. Trinity feud, the death toll stands at four: one Trinity student and three Balliol students. No one has yet provided me with any stories behind the one Trinity death. 4 Noted me...

Chronicles of Oxford: Fresher's Week

http://sarahatoxford.blogspot.com/2007/10/freshers-week.html

Sunday, October 7, 2007. I have officially made it through the craziness that is fresher's week at Oxford. I've met a lot of wonderful people, and I feel ready to start term. Yay! Ready to start term"? October 18, 2007 at 7:20 PM. Perhaps meant for precisely these moments. October 18, 2007 at 7:22 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The World Through Art. Chronicles of Oxford: September 2007

http://sarahatoxford.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Oxford in the Rain. It's the week before fresher's week here in Oxford, and it's starting to feel like fall. Today was very wet; it rained heavily most of the afternoon and even hailed for a few moments. I ventured out of my house for only a few hours, in order to purchase my hideously expensive and hideously ugly academic dress. This consists of:. Actually coming off at the shoulders. These hang in the most awkward fashion possible. Insane. Instead, I have to carry. The rain...

Chronicles of Oxford: Oxford Pictures

http://sarahatoxford.blogspot.com/2008/06/oxford-pictures.html

Saturday, June 7, 2008. I know it's been far too long since I posted anything. Likely most of my friends and family won't notice that I've started keeping my blog again (except Corwin, who apparently doesn't have any real work to do). . At any rate, here are a few pictures I've taken over the last months. I think they tell it better than I could . Catching the bus on the High Street. Notre Dame de la Gare in Marseille. Meditations from the Medieval City

Meditations from the Medieval City. In this blog I will attempt to record my experiences and thoughts while at Oxford, hopefully for your reading pleasure. Saturday, December 17, 2011. Old and New Adventures. I didn’t realize just how tired I was until I stopped walking, reading, thinking, writing, and planning for a whole day. It has been nice to rest. I treasure this time with my family because it will be short. But even though I am filled with joy for this new opportunity, I am still remembering Oxfor...

Hello from Sunshine

Tuesday, 22 January 2013. Snow x Illness x work = Stressed out Mother Bear. So it's 6am on Wednesday morning, minus 3 outside and inside my son has a temperature of 39.6! Bring him in to the in-call doctor they say. Sure I say. Says the on-call doctor, with his shirt buttoned up wrong and his eyes bleary from being woken up by this over- protective mother- bear! No no, no not necessary! Just paracetamol and fluids. Er. Ok. Ah" says the doctor down the phone "that's an infection, he needs antibiotics".
