Friday, December 4, 2009. Thoughts on Bearing Burdens. Learning to Bear Burdens. I have been thinking a ton lately about bearing the burdens of others. As a family we have been praying much for the healing of Matt Chandler. We have also been praying for several guys on staff at The Village and their families. Our prayers have simply been the following:. Papa, please make Your thoughts their thoughts. Make Your feelings their feelings. After all, this is still practical atheism. A little boy and his frien...

Thursday, October 29, 2009. Justin Taylor posted the video below on his blog. It was, for me, an awesome and stern rebuke to memorize scripture as the power and comprehensibility of it are undeniable as you watch and listen. I hope you enjoy and are stirred up to love and good works by the truth and beauty of The Word. Tuesday, October 27, 2009. A Very Important Principle. Here is an article John Piper wrote. What do you think about this approach? One of the Most Important Principles in Reading the Bible.

Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Almost Jacked-Up Banana Bread. Dearest of friends, I have something delicious for you to try. De-licious. And super easy. What can be better than that? A while back (which really could mean any span of time) I found a recipe for banana bread on Smitten Kitchen. Time has flown by. Don't be like me. Make this bread and then make it again. After making it again today, I think I'm going to declare it my favorite banana bread. Now that's commitment. 3 to 4 ripe bananas, smashed. I have...

Hand Me An Apron: August 2011
http://handmeanapron.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 8, 2011. Please feel free to dance about your kitchens with me. (Note: I did not say that I'm baked. I said I baked. I'm not on drugs, I'm just naturally weird.). Tomatoes, red and sweet onions, strawberries, yellow squash, and zucchini. It was glorious. 2 Tablespoons vanilla (yes, tablespoons). 1 tsp baking soda. 1/4 tsp baking powder. Mix in the order written. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 1 hour. Whoopsie. Never fear, a pan sticking problem does not affect the taste...

Hand Me An Apron: Roots
http://handmeanapron.blogspot.com/2012/10/roots.html
Sunday, October 21, 2012. Remember approximately 1,210 years ago when I started my cooking blog? Remember approximately 127, 210 days ago when it started to get mixed up and became a cooking/life blog? Remember 422 days ago when I ditched it altogether because life became insane and I seemed to stop cooking? Remember 4 months ago when I had it redesigned to make a fresh start, but then neglected to, well, actually start again? Where did the joy go? Did I forget to pack it when I moved? Not a chance. ...

http://handmeanapron.blogspot.com/2014/06/chicken-enchilada-casserole.html
Friday, June 20, 2014. You guys, I made a recipe I found on Pinterest. You know how you see Pinterest fails? This recipe is not one of those. This recipe is a winner. Today, we get to put the chicken enchilada casserole into the winner category. It's gooood and still packs a lot of great flavor when reheated. Yum. This originally comes from Chef in Training. I haven't explored the blog past this recipe, but I think I might need to after this cooking success. Here are the details:. 1 can black beans.

Hand Me An Apron: January 2015
http://handmeanapron.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 2, 2015. Well, hello. Let me just hop down off my hoverboard and I'll share with you my 2015 cooking goals. What? You don't have a hoverboard? Isn't this the year of robots and hovercraft and whatever else took place in sci fi movies that I never watched as a kid because I wasn't into sci fi? Okay, so 2015 might not be as crazy as we imagined it might be since we're all mostly living our lives with gravity keeping us in check, but it can still be a fun year! If you clicked the second link...

Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Coconut Cake and Garavan. 1 box white cake mix. 2 cups angel flake coconut. 1 can cream of coconut. I weep every time I eat this cake. But they're tears of joy, so that's good. Sunday, January 16, 2011. And the winner is. Try to follow this highly scientific process. All names are written down. This particular list was written in the order the comments were received. The names are cut up with no preference given. Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Did Someone Say Free Cookbook?

Hand Me An Apron: December 2010
http://handmeanapron.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 25, 2010. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. A dusting of snow, cookies, Christmas movies, and family.it's officially Christmas! My brain is having a hard time grasping that Christmas is here (and nearly over). I think that's the downside of the last few years of a chaotic schedule; I have little concept of time as it relates to my personal life. My idea of days, weeks, months, etc revolve around due dates and my work schedule. Here are her recipes:. 2 tsp baking powder.

Friday, October 29, 2010. I love the seasoning and flavor of Qdoba's shredded beef. I have no idea what they do to it, but I want to replicate it. I've tried a couple variations with no success. The dishes have been delicious, but not like Qdoba. This week I tried using the Williams-Sonoma Chili-Lime Rub to see if the seasoning would get me any closer. The flavor may not be Qdoba's, but I still liked what this rub offered. Roasts always make good meals, but they also make fantastic leftover sandwiches.
