Sarah in Saigon: The Intern Aftermath. After six months as an Intern in Hanoi, I am moving down South to Saigon for four months to work at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director. Sunday, July 8, 2007. In March my faithful Hanoian friend Hieu departed back to Canada! It was she came down to Saigon for one final visit with the crew down here and to visit her family. We spent the weekend hanging out and going out with the Frisbee crew. I think they were just jealous! I have seriously neg...

Sarah in Saigon: The Intern Aftermath. After six months as an Intern in Hanoi, I am moving down South to Saigon for four months to work at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director. Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Well I have finally arrived in Saigon, and almost settled in! The city really is great, a whole new world compared to little Hanoi. I love Hanoi, but it's nice to be in a sunny city, which is booming and has a little more active community and night life. Friday, March 9, 2007. My la...

Sarah in Saigon: The Intern Aftermath. After six months as an Intern in Hanoi, I am moving down South to Saigon for four months to work at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce as the Executive Director. Sunday, April 22, 2007. One of the true Vietnamese meals is snake. It's quite the ceremony and I'm not sure that I was fully prepared for the whole ordeal. Actually that's a lie it wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be. There is one that all you men have to keep in mind when going for snake, make sure t...

Vietnam Tales: Last days in Hanoi

http://hieuinvietnam.blogspot.com/2007/04/last-days-in-hanoi.html

Monday, April 23, 2007. Last days in Hanoi. My Aunt 6 (sitting in the middle and who has a scary strong ressemblance to my mom) and I did a day tour of the Mekong Delta. My grandfather's old house in Binh Thuan province and where my 12 aunts and uncles used to live. Aunt 4 and I on the rooftop picking mangos - my grandfather planted the tree sometime in the 70s. Hanoi Ulimate Club at our new grassy field. Thank you UNIS (the UN International School)! I have really enjoyed looking through your blog! Mai i...

Saturday, June 23, 2007. It has been about 2 months since I been back in Ottawa and it was been a jam packed spring and more to come in the summer. I thought it would be nice to share some pictures of what I actually do in Ottawa and what people in general do in the country known for its public health care system, for being nice, and Pamela Anderson (a Vietnamese person actually associated Canada with her .). The ING Marathon race draws thousands of runners from around the world. My relatives who came to...

Vietnam Tales: Where Am I?

http://hieuinvietnam.blogspot.com/2007/04/where-am-i.html

Friday, April 27, 2007. Drivers. However, I have missed the excuse me's, please's, and may I's, and understand why Canadians have a reputation for being polite. Just wanted to post that I plan to put an extensive reflection eventually once I get settled. I just returned to Elm Street and started my first day of work and have the lovely task of unpacking all week. So stay tuned! So funny, u see, Hanoi is very small. Monday, December 25, 2006. Chuc Mung Giang Sinh. Happy Merry Christmas to all (that's how all the locals say it in English)! It is Christmas day and yes, I am at work, but it does not bother me whatsoever as it has been a great Christmas holiday so far. My roomies, Caroline from England and Lora from the US, and our Christmas tree. We ate well and I was stuffed by 7:30 (party started at 7) but was able to eat the whole night long . when else am I going to get homemade baking? So technically I am celebrat...

I just found this on my laptop and this was actually written in August when I was home on vacation and I must have wrote it when I had a little bit of time on my hands (there is no cable or internet on the premises, nor many friends who still live in Sydney, and the ones that do were working - but I was very excited that Danielle took a vacation day to hang out! Vietnam Tales: November 2006

Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Photo: My first rain storm in Hanoi, I actually think it might have been the tailend of a typhoon. Alex and Sarah are wading through the water - this is the end of my alley and let's just say I am applying what I learned at SURP, Hanoi has awful stormwater managment, there is pavement everywhere even where there are trees there is pavement right upto the trunk! I always think it is going to rain because it looks cloudy but really it is a thick cloud of haze and pollution.

Kebabs and crying – My big fat Greek Adventure. October 9, 2016. I can’t remember when David first mentioned he wanted to run Spartathlon. He mentions wanting to run races quite often and largely I ignore him and hope the idea will go away. This one didn’t. There’s a slight drawback in that I now have to wear Beks’s “small” crew kit so that Mark can have my “medium”, but I’m prepared to overlook this for now. Triple it is, then. A Child of God

A Child of God. Monday, January 17, 2011. The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man." Gen. 39:2. Have you ever felt as if your life was out of your control and you questioned if you were really in God's hands at all? Maybe you lost a job, lost a loved one, or received the news that you have cancer. Or maybe it was a myriad of small disappointments or testings that left you wondering if God is still with you to allow these things to take place in your life. What about his dream?
