Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Mount massive 14,421 feet. Mt Massive is the second highest peak in Colorado and the third highest in the 48 states, exceeded only by California's Mt. Whitney. And its near neighbor, Mt. Elbert. Pretty moss and flowers as we hiked up. Family of mountain goats just relaxing near the top. Views from the summit. and what was even cooler about the views is that they were of our valley where we live! We made it and so did the puppies poco and clancy! Posted by Marty and Carly.

Friday, July 23, 2010. 4 friends, 2 dogs, 3 days, and 31 miles. jarrid, liz, marty, and i went on a 3 day backpacking trip. we began at the maroon bells in aspen, headed up and over west maroon pass, over to crested butte, and then back over east maroon pass. the weather was fantastic! Crater lake at the maroon bells. Copper lake: day 2. Top of west maroon pass, climbed 3,5oo feet in elevation. Top of east maroon pass, ready to head 11 miles back to the car. Tired, sore, and blistered feet.
