Sarah Wood Floral Artist

Sarah Wood Floral Artist. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Raindrops on flowers are particularly difficult to paint, but I like a challenge and this painting certainly was one. The watercolour and gouache painting is based on photographs I took in the pouring rain. There really was no time to do some sketching as it was really wet. The Lily genus is made up of a large and diverse group of hardy bulbous plants, with about 80 species and numerous hybrids. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. My husban...

Sarah Wood Floral Artist: Robin at Overbecks

http://sarahwoodfloralartist.blogspot.com/2015/08/robin-at-overbecks.html

Sarah Wood Floral Artist. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. This is my new watercolour and gouache painting titled 'Robin at Overbecks'. It was painted from photographs Mike my husband took at Overbecks National Trust. It was a wonderful visit, a hot and sunny day. Overbecks House was very interesting and the gardens were a delight full of flowers. It was fun to paint the coastline in the distance, I almost enjoyed painting the background more than the Robin, I do like tangled undergrowth. Link to my website.

Sarah Wood Floral Artist: Liquidambar styraciflua stage five

http://sarahwoodfloralartist.blogspot.com/2015/07/liquidambar-styraciflua-stage-five.html

Sarah Wood Floral Artist. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Liquidambar styraciflua stage five. Here I am adding colour to the background leaves. I am using a number one brush and a very wet wash of Permanent Rose. I just have to keep building up the layers of paint on the leaves until I am happy with the tonal values. Next highlights will then be added to the raindrops. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Link to my website. Prints also available from Imagekind. View my complete profile. Society of All Artists.

Travelling in a Box. Sofa travel notes from Mike Wood - probably the most untravelled travel writer in the world. Thursday, 25 June 2015. It was all going so well until the soap bubbles started coming out of the wardrobe. There are bubbles coming out of the wardrobe! But more on that later. The site itself is excellent. There is even an electric hookup - very rare on a THS - so my fears of having to ration the battery life on my laptop are unfounded. Yes, suds were coming out from under the wardrobe door...

Travelling in a Box. Sofa travel notes from Mike Wood - probably the most untravelled travel writer in the world. Saturday, 22 February 2014. For our season opener in 2014 we have come to The National Forest. In the East Midlands. There were no trees here a few years ago. Now they have planted over eight million of them, and it seems to be a fantastic idea. Could there be any better way of revitalising a blighted, industrially scarred area? I can't think of one. They have done wonders with the canal, it'...

Travelling in a Box. Sofa travel notes from Mike Wood - probably the most untravelled travel writer in the world. Sunday, 19 April 2015. With Sheila Kiggins outside Camping and Caravan Club Offices. For me, the big event was my first visit to the London Book Fair at Olympia. I hadn’t appreciated just how big this event was. I had my smart phone step counter switched on and realized later that I’d done nearly seven miles walking around the exhibition space. Seven miles! Labels: Camping and Caravanning Club.

A so-so photo of Radcliffe Square enhanced beyond all recognition and without prompting by Google. Thanks guys. Well, you could ask for an old ham, and even here Oxford delivers. The world's oldest ham, in fact, hanging in a butcher's in the market, with a certificate to prove it. I love this. A whole year beckons. Location: Oxford, Oxford, UK.

Travelling in a Box. Sofa travel notes from Mike Wood - probably the most untravelled travel writer in the world. Tuesday, 23 April 2013. Back in an Alpine. We bought on old Avondale, and she was okay, but suffered from damp. She did the trick for 10 years but the damp was always going to win. She was a comfortable ‘van but I have to confess I always missed the little Alpine and her quirky eccentricities. She’s wonderful. She’s called Sally. Sally Swift. I’m moaning a lot, aren’t I? Or as a paperback.

Travelling in a Box. Sofa travel notes from Mike Wood - probably the most untravelled travel writer in the world. Tuesday, 22 July 2014. What makes for a good caravan site location? So what makes for a good caravan site location? Shelter from sun and wind. Right now I'm in Weymouth, at a Dorset DA temp site. The big thrill for us was finding that it's only an eight minute walk to a big, bright, air-conditioned Sainsbury's. Oh, and the other thing: we love Weymouth. The old harbour, the eateries, the ...

Then I start to wonder about how the hall might have looked back in 1765 when it was new. The marble floors were perfect and unmarked. There would have been a smell of paint and fresh plaster everywhere, a little like going into a Wimpy show-home but factored up a bit. The park would be, I don’t know, bare? Or as a paperback.

February 3, 2012. It may not be the popular thing to say. Not as a writer. But sometimes, just sometimes, there’s an ounce of liberation in admitting an unpopular truth. Sohere it goes:. Writer’s block is not the enemy. Believe me. I even caught my jaw doing one of those clichéd droops. You know, the kind we’re all supposed to avoid in good writing. But before you retort too much, here’s my explanation:. Writer’s block is an opportunity. Hey, it’s at least worth pondering. Tagged as writer's block. One p...
