Songs of a Wayfarer: October 2005
http://danijuris.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. October 19, 2005. At the moment one of my most prized possessions is the eleventh edition of the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the world, published 2003 and, as ever, dedicated to her to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The book would be worth looking at even without the treasures it withholds - its size practically dwarfs my previous atlas (the Times concise. Pacific Ocean islands - thought you know all the world capitals? Central Russian Federa...

Songs of a Wayfarer: September 2005

Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. September 14, 2005. IN MEMORIAM 12.1.2004-13.9.2005. My previous glasses were special in that they were the very first glasses I ever used. Everything went perfectly from day one, when people said they fit me so well they hardly even realised I was wearing glasses. I also got used to the glasses very quickly, and remember forgetting them home only once. However, there were also times when they were a pain in the ass. Posted by Dani @ 21:55.

Songs of a Wayfarer: January 2006
http://danijuris.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. January 30, 2006. At the airport, it's total chaos and I ask myself since when is Helsinki-Vantaa situated on an artificial island. I check-in and receive my boarding passes, but to my shock I realise my final destination is marked as TRS - Buenos Aires! Suddenly I'm being ushered into the plane despite my calm but increasingly irritated explanations that there has been some mistake. Quiz: Where am I landing in this picture? From Frankfurt to N...

Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. May 30, 2005. Today can be clearly divided into two distinct halfs: the first part of the day (noon to four) and the rest (from four onwards). Skip the pictures from their beach party and scroll down to the second half of his today's entry ;). Posted by Dani @ 08:46. May 25, 2005. Spent six hours working at Cantores Minores. Songs of a Wayfarer: March 2005
http://danijuris.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. March 29, 2005. Today, I had a harp lesson at my teacher's home in Kilo. It took me an hour to get home from there, and most of the morning was spent like that. Lunch was at Museokatu, and in the afternoon I had a nice visit from Dea and Martin, who worked on some mathematics together while I tried to brush up my scales on the harp. The countdown to the summer has now OFFICIALLY begun! Piece of the day: Tchaikovsky's A minor piano trio. I stopp...

Songs of a Wayfarer: April 2005
http://danijuris.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. April 26, 2005. Brahms is back with his choral works. Surely some of the most beautiful music ever composed for choir a cappella. Tomorrow in our choral conducting class, it's my turn to present choral music I'm particularly interested in, so I'm listening to the Chamber Choir of Europe's excellent recording (Brahms' complete a cappella on eight discs, purchased for 18 euros in Bamberg, Germany) for inspiration. The concert is on Thursday and o...

Songs of a Wayfarer: February 2006
http://danijuris.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. February 28, 2006. Inspired by Lonely Planet's recently published book "Bluelist", I made a little list of my own, featuring remote. I want to visit some day. Tierra del Fuego, border between Chile and Argentina. Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world and its location between the mountains and glaciers of Tierra del Fuego sounds spectacular. And the name of the city sounds lush and inviting. Cheapest flight I found. Need I say more?

Songs of a Wayfarer. Meditations on the rich fabric of life. June 28, 2005. Midnight dashes to retrieve stuff from Museokatu, Panic-ridden moments at the suitcase, Running to get last-minute shopping, Impromptu breakfast for four guests, adding things to the to-do list faster than crossing them out, junk food, getting caught in torrents of rain - welcome to my last 48 hours before leaving. Do YOU recognise the music playing in the background of my new answering machine? Posted by Dani @ 09:24. The music ...
