13 August 2015 @ 08:30 am. The thing about being old and somewhat arthritic is that I have a general, small level of pain all the time. It's the price one pays post sixty, but the downside is, that sometimes the aches intensify so gradually that it hits me, whoa, could I be sick? Well, anyway, I would really, really like to see them make their last goal in the next 48 hours. I want the subsidiary CD's promised. If any of you have an interest, or like their work, here's the data in the link. This was such...

16 June 2016 @ 08:43 pm. Still seemed to appreciate his music. This is when he began. People came and went. Once the train stopped to let a freight train by, so I got a bit of a smoother shot and a lovely bit of classical riffing. Then a fellow asked if he could join in, though he only knew folk music. Asher agreed, and offered a common note, to be told the Canadian gent didn't know what those were, and so he began to play, and Asher felt his way in. I captured the first song. 09 March 2016 @ 06:49 pm.

10 August 2015 @ 05:50 am. Recently Ursula K. Le Guin has opened a forum over at Book View Cafe for questions about writing. She gets so many it closes again fast, but she seems to be willing to keep doing it. Last Exo book out . . . - Oached Pish

http://sartorias.livejournal.com/655767.html

Last Exo book out . . . - Oached Pish. 24 July 2015 @ 05:57 am. Last Exo book out . . . Catching up in the sweltering heat, with a house full of people. But the house guests are from Arizona and Utah respectively, so it's not like they have any better weather at home. (Though they probably have air conditioning, which we can't afford to run.). Anyway, the last volume. So now that's done. At Book View Cafe various writers have been offering writing hacks. Mine is up today. 13 comments Leave a comment.

Bittercon --why we love bad writing - Oached Pish

http://sartorias.livejournal.com/476638.html

Bittercon - why we love bad writing - Oached Pish. 16 July 2011 @ 09:02 am. Bittercon - why we love bad writing. Why We Love Bad Writing. Or are entertaining writing and good writing two entirely distinct ways of evaluating a book? I see this one as somewhat different from the endless "what is bad writing/what is good writing? Because it seems to imply that the reader recognizes that the book in hand is not well written, and yet she is enjoying it anyway. Everyone in the two novels I tried seems to have ...

Ten Rules of Writing, revisited - Oached Pish

http://sartorias.livejournal.com/390547.html

Ten Rules of Writing, revisited - Oached Pish. 01 March 2010 @ 06:46 am. Ten Rules of Writing, revisited. Ten rules I liked a lot. These are from the author of the insanely fast-paced, high intensity Child of Fire. Here are my rules for today (they would probably differ tomorrow):. 1 Try to spend more time writing than cruising the Net, and that includes reading chat about writing. 2 Write what you love. If you're not excited about the story, there's a good chance no one else will be, either. 9 Research ...

Catholic Bibliophagist: For Where Your Treasure Is . . .

The adventures of a Catholic reader with a catholic library. Wednesday, May 11, 2011. For Where Your Treasure Is . . . Wicked people never have time for reading,' Dewey said. Like a leaf on the wind. 2nd May, 2015 at 9:34 AM. Crossposted at my Tumblr. You knew it was too good to last, didn’t you? I don’t know about anyone else, but this is the conversation I saw, tracking back as best as I could. I’m paraphrasing a bit, but here goes. Yes, said Moen. Someone on a panel mentioned she’d seen/heard about some slash fic about Vox Day and RH. Moen wasn’t entirely sure which of the women on the panel had said it, but. That’s about how long it took for someone who was not there to c...

Through the Worldgate: October 2010

http://tattercoats.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Reflections on science fiction, fantasy and the writing life. Tuesday, October 05, 2010. My Story Is Now Live. I've spent the last week wondering whether I had a sale or not, and just as I am about to query, I get a message that yes, they're ready to publish my story. Maybe I should've queried right after the message that looked like a server burp. But the story is up now. It's The End of Her Line. And it's at Every Day Fiction. Which publishes a short-short of 1000 words or less every day of the year.

Through the Worldgate: When It All Looks Like Crap

http://tattercoats.blogspot.com/2014/11/when-it-all-looks-like-crap.html

Reflections on science fiction, fantasy and the writing life. Saturday, November 08, 2014. When It All Looks Like Crap. Right now I'm at the worst part of the revision process with The Steel Breeds True. The point where everything looks like crap, and I'm starting to wonder if the story itself can even be salvaged, or if it would be better to just toss the whole thing and try something else. That dreadful moment when I fear that if I do offer it for sale, everyone will laugh and point. Reading on a Budget.

What About Including Elves? - scribblerworks

http://scribblerworks.livejournal.com/57048.html

What About Including Elves? Sep 5th, 2012 at 9:33 AM. Ive been doing some thinking lately about why so many fantasy writers have the impulse to include elves (by that or any other name) in their fantasy worlds. Id looked at the issue of immortality before, but this was a broader impulse. Ive posted the main discussion over on my Arveniem blog. We have this impulse to include elvish type beings in our fantasy worlds, I wonder? Id be interested in reactions and feedback on the idea. James a. owen.

J T Glover (. I'm going to ramp up my blogging now.". This post could be subtitled "a phrase one usually does not hear." The last week has involved various obiter dicta about the nature of blogging as of December 2011. This morning I was poking through the usual run of art blogs and saw an artist talking about stepping away from his journal just until he gets this one book done, and I had to smile, because I hear it all the time from writers. The nice (? Was always on about. Now, many years later, I ...
