Modesty Studios: September 2014
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 19, 2014. More Leg Stuff, My Flash Game, and New Helmet Visor? I managed to get the legs to a place that will work for me. I've lined the styrene with foam rings and it velcros at the seam. It'll need painting and weathering. Everything needs more weathering. :D. I've also got the fabric for the veil. It looks nice on the helmet. I first have to sew the trim before attaching it to the helmet. (Otherwise I know it'll just be falling off all the time.). Thursday, September 4, 2014. Sadly,...

Modesty Studios: Rethinking the Elf Bodice
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2015/07/rethinking-elf-bodice.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Rethinking the Elf Bodice. So here's how this happened. I'm at work on a slow Saturday night and decided to play around in my test store. (I do tech support and my test store is custom pony based! I created a new line of items in my store "Fluffy Ponies" and created a product for a plush pony. Which got me into research on how to actually make them and what kind of fabric is used and so on. Alsonow I've also figured out how the pattern should look. Also I'm getting tons of ideas fo...

Modesty Studios: March 2015

Friday, March 20, 2015. Transparent Worbla or TranspArt. Http:/ www.worbla.com/? This is the answer for so many of my prop issues for Tali! It's also a fantastic way to make casting molds. Seriously.if I could make a visor with this! This would be way easier than thermoplastics. Downside is that it is pricey. I want to make an Omnitool out of it. Also redo the visor. :D. Why haven't I updated this! Ha so it's been awhile since I posted progress. And progress had been made! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Modesty Studios: July 2014
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 28, 2014. So San Diego Comic Con is going on. And a Tali cosplay appeared on my facebook feed. :) It was fun to see especially since it was a ME 3 version. I think I'm unique in doing ME 1 version. But I'm distracted. I haven't done costume stuff for a couple of days now. I started playing Dragon Age Origins again. /sigh/ I keep glaring at the Warden Armors. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY BELTS? Friday, July 25, 2014. Foot Fetish - err.making feet. Some of my plots:. 2 pairs of socks (ballet/anklet s...

Modesty Studios: April 2015
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 9, 2015. Been doing a bit of an experiment craftwise. It may become a cosplay but we'll see. So here's what's I've done. Supplies: 5mm foam, googly eyes, plaster bandages, wire, cutting tools, and markers. Also a plastic mask. I cut the mouth and traced the plates. Cut the eye holes to be a bit bigger. The googly eyes to size to the eyes. Cut the back of the googly eyes and colored the white part of the tape. The thick foam for the eye shape. Used the molding mesh to shape the nose.

Modesty Studios: June 2014
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 23, 2014. Attack of the Visor Part 1. Today I did my bold experiment. I attempted my vacuum forming set up. Here are the results. As you can see it is indeed vaguely visor shaped. The buck held up very well. Here are the mistakes I made. 1) I left the plastic in the over too long. It got a bit stuck on things. In an effort to dislodge those things from the sagging plastic, things got screwy. 2) The vacuum still doesn't have enough pull so it did not suction around the buck. The next step wou...

Modesty Studios: May 2014
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 27, 2014. The most challenging part of the costume build will be this helmet. It's unique design and large visor space are challenging to make look right without sacrificing quality. So most likely it will be the most expensive portion of the costume. It's also kind of an odd shape. It's not perfect but it's a start. But it's something to work from. The material I will actually use is much thicker. So it won't look so floppy. It's a little big I think. Foam (for padding and stability) Own.

Modesty Studios: Faux Chainmail and Bodice Armor
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2015/07/faux-chainmail-and-bodice-armor.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. Faux Chainmail and Bodice Armor. I've made some progress on my Dalish Inquistor. The bodice is in progress (pics soon). So I had a round about way of figuring out how to do this. First, I thought that the vinyl I purchased would be thinner and a bit more flexible. So I went about creating the base of the bodice in craft foam and cover it in the vinyl. I plan on ordering some worbla after my next paycheck or two. I have the pattern for the helmet cut out. I'll have to make a...In ot...

Modesty Studios: Merry Christmas!
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014/12/merry-christmas.html
Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Still waiting on feedback about jobs, looks like I'll have some unemployment time in January. Boooo! But I am making plans for my Inquisitor cosplay. And hopefully finishing the Warden. I have sunk quite some time into it and some money but I really don't have a planned event to wear it at so it's hard to really work on it. Also, want to wear the elf armor to the Ren Faire. :). We'll see how things go though. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). That Guy with the Glasses.

Modesty Studios: October 2014
http://modestystudio.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 27, 2014. I changed my mind! Instead of a werewolf, I'm re-purposing the costume as a Calavera or Sugar Skull from Dia de Meurtos. I just got some extra white makeup, false eye lashes and Skeleton leggings. I've been having way too much fun on Pintrest. And Youtube looking up designs for the makeup. I love wigs. This adds the right contrast. Decent look at the design. Friday, October 24, 2014. Hallowent and Leg armor progress. Halloween is next weekend! Friday, October 17, 2014. I swear s...
