Local Councillor Votes In Favour Of Developement. Cllr Sharman voted in favour of the LDF at the council meeting Wednesday 10th September 2014. Witnessed by several group members. Voice Of The Nimby. The Rotherham Action Group are members of the local community who are strongly against plans to build on green belt land throughout the borough. In Greasbrough/Rawmarsh they plan to build 3600 new homes on green belt land, its called the Bassingthorpe Farm Development, the size of about 6000 football pitches. This is also happening in Bramley,Ravenfield and Wickersley to name but a few areas. If you would like to object to the Council all details are in the link below. Diary Of A NIMBY.

At the moment we are seven individuals who have got together over our concerns for the greenbelt and surrounding areas of Pogmoor, Gawber, Redbrook, Barugh Green and Higham. We understand the future needs of housing and investment in Barnsley but with so many empty industrial units, properties and brownfield sites in the area we feel the destruction of the greenbelt locally and nationally should not happen merely to save the developer’s money. Once the greenbelt is gone, it’s gone forever.
