Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. November 23, 2011. I'm dreaming of a. Not a White Christmas (yet, at least). But, in Oklahoma we are preparing (or better be prepared, 'cus it's here) for cold weather. The days of 110 degrees is long gone. I'm personally finding myself wishing them back. I vow to never despise the heat again. This dish starts with fresh carrots. Onions and garlic. All gets cooked down. Several meats (veal being the star) gets added. Isn't it just a sight for sore eyes? November 17, 2011.

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. April 19, 2011. Warmer weather is "creping" up on us, and JAK has gone fishing! Gosh, JAK has certainly been enjoying the amazing weather Oklahoma has been "serving" up these past few days (minus the few days that we had to endure tornado like wind! She peeled and sliced the rutabaga just as you would a potato. As well, brought them to a boil and cooked them until fork tender. But, what's cool is we really didn't miss it! On to the main portion. "A" started with sli...

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. August 23, 2011. Have I told you lately, that I love you. JAK was away from each other for WAY TOO long. I genuinely missed "J" and "A" so much, and it was so wonderful to be back in their company this past Monday. We vowed never to take that much time off again. Life happens though. With being out-of-pocket for a few weeks, "J" certainly didn't lose his game! His meal all for made up for the time apart. The salty play dough! Another visually beautiful photo. While the ...

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. February 15, 2012. No cannoli's were harmed in the making of this dinner. Actually, no cannoli's were even present. But, it was an Italian Valentine's Day Feast! Well, Pre-Valentine's Day Feast. Look how beautiful the table looks. "A" did a great job! It was nice being back "home". The meal started out with some beautiful heirloom tomatoes. The colors were just gorgeous. A good red onion got a rough chop. And bathed in a great balsamic. Nothing less than rack of lamb!

http://mondayswithjak.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. June 28, 2011. It's Greek to me! This meal was anything but "Greek"! You got it. I have to say, up-front, one of my favorites thus far. There were so many angles to this meal, and all were unbelievable. We start with homemade bread (two types), a homemade pizza dough and a "surprise" dough. J" tried out a new kind of bread this time. A wheat bread. Here it is rising. It took 18 hours, start to finish, to create this. Dedication? In goes some roasted garlic. I was in...

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. October 14, 2011. Who needs dessert, when you've got sausages that look like that? A trip to Italy. The sausages get a slight boil, before the real cooking gets underway. Butter goes into a roasting pan. Beautiful grapes, Italian style! The grapes join the butter. Butter, grapes and a good red wine. Then the slightly boiled sausages get added. All goes into the oven, to roast. Some sliced potatoes, boiled to perfection. Some milk and butter heats up. October 4, 2011.

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. May 25, 2011. Okay, I'm not talking about the movie. But, I'm talking about a fabulous restaurant that is a local unknown gem! This past three weeks we took a walk down memory lane on our childhood favorites (meals cooked at home). So, these next three weeks we are going to frequent establishments that either A. We grew up on or B. That remind us of those special occasion restaurants we grew up going to. Pelican's was that for me. Isn't it so quaint? The cute, and exten...

Not So Mundane Monday's, with JAK. September 14, 2011. This is it. The second week of our CHOPPED series. "A" surprised us by wanting to get "in" on the action. So, "J" and I made our way to the grocery store. He promised "A" that we wouldn't get in a fight while shopping. And, he kept his word. But, perhaps he should have pushed a little harder with me. More on that later. A" opening her appetizer round box! Fresh corn on the cob. Goat cheese.and parsnips. All plates lined up and ready to eat! She made ...
