Scaled Down grew out of a keen interest in New Zealand domestic architecture, a response to the earthquakes of 2010 - 11 and a concern for the protection of our heritage. A career directly involved with art, design and architecture and a longtime interest in finely crafted objects has led very naturally to making architectural models for people who share the same interest and concern for our heritage. The process of constructing each model begins with a visit to the building if its accessible and still standing. Photographs are taken to record the details of every aspect and from a range of viewpoints and from these, drawings are made to establish the scale of the model and to closely examine the architectural details. Kilmore Street development,Christchurch 2016. Of the three blocks of apartments to be built in Kilmore Street alongside Cranmer Square, the first two models are completed. Both designed by Wilson and Hill for developer Grant McKinnon - one a five storey block and the other with ten floors, they epitomise the best of the Christchurch rebuild and they represent high quality urban design.
