Cooking and Feasting with Scandinavian Flair. Sunday, 28 March 2010. Hot buns full of heresy. Last year's holy buns (photo by Fiona Beckett). This year's hot cross loaf (the buns were all snaffled up before photos could be taken). Being of Norwegian-Irish-Scottish-Jewish-Lithuanian-German extraction I've stopped crossing my buns. What inspired such subversive behaviour in the week leading to Easter? Not cross buns (adapted from the Leiths bible standard hot cross bun recipe). 300g refined spelt flour.

Scandilicious: July 2009

Cooking and Feasting with Scandinavian Flair. Tuesday, 21 July 2009. On waffles, peaches and the joys of not baking. But I digress. As it is hot, baking is simply out of the question. Out came the extention cord and I placed said waffle iron on the terrace for an. In sum, who needs to bake on sultry summer days when the waffle iron provides such simple bruncheon joy? To mitigate the waffles - not that they require mitigation per se - we snaffled some Spanish donut peaches:. 1/2 tsp baking powder. Sift dr...

Scandilicious: August 2009

http://scandilicious.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Cooking and Feasting with Scandinavian Flair. Friday, 28 August 2009. Photo courtesy of Simon Majumdar. It must be hard being a man. Seriously, I'm increasingly convinced that girls really do have more fun. If you believe the rants of grumpy newspaper commentators, you probably think men (and boys) are so thoroughly emasculated by women and girls' advancement in every sphere that men are now reduced to quivering jellies in the face of such Boadiceaesque fierceness. "What good are men for? Masculine prowe...

Cooking and Feasting with Scandinavian Flair. Tuesday, 23 June 2009. Krumkaker with blackcurrant ice cream. The 30-year old Norwegian. Recipe from 'Norway's delight' and cone cooling. Freshly churned blackcurrant ice cream. Of course nothing quite says 'summer' like an ice cream cone, with the ice cream dribbling down your chin, on your clothes, or in my case, somehow ending up in my hair. Last weekend I dusted off two relics from the Johansen kitchen cupboard - a. Ice cream machine and a. Zest of 1 lemon.

cooking notes: mackerel, bass, free oysters

http://williamclement.blogspot.com/2009/11/loch-fyne.html

Saturday, 28 November 2009. Mackerel, bass, free oysters. Trumpington St, Cambridge. Loch Fyne for dinner. It was Victoria's twenty-first birthday. From the specials I had smoked mackerel pate with onion marmelade. The fish was flaked in a little dish with, I imagine, a very little butter and cream. Although a little dry it was pleasantly salt and retained a good deep flavour of smoked-fish. It needed the marmalade, being sweet and astringent. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, 27 December 2009. The Story of a Gosling. Or: Tangled Thoughts on Christmas Dinner. The goose, plucked, unbutchered. Removing the neck and skin. Mummy's delicate technique for removing the feet. The housette, my bedroom, the dining room. Goose, I now really agree, is better cold. I've read it so often - in Elizabeth David, Matthew Fort among others - and thought No, you want it hot! On Christmas day you must have a whole, roasted bird, and it has to be goose! Monday, 11 January 2010. Me and my microplane. Alright it's not massive news, but I bought a Microplane. Everyone goes on about Microplanes. If you watch television cookery programmes they all (them TV cooks) use Microplanes. Nigel Slater doesn't usually endorse products but he endorses the Microplane. The "Ask Nigel" he endorses it in hasn't made it to the Observer website, for some reason, unless, bizarrely, I imagined him endorsing Microplanes. It minces very well, which (ha! For zest do I need "fine"?

Till exempel färgtema, sten and mur, frukt and bär, naturlikt/vilt, mycket doftande blommor, ovanliga växter etc. 4)Funderingar kring vad det maximalt får kosta att designa om trädgården. May 6, 2015. May 9, 2015. Food wastage and it almost drives me to tears to see all of that perfectly good food go down the bin. And that’s where it will end up: if we don’t bring it home with us, we’ll leave it to the rats (okay, to the garbage bin – you get the idea). I had to come up with a solution! So last week I brought home 20 or so plain croissants with the goal of not letting them go to waste. My solution: a bread and butter pudding made with croissants! And then again tomorrow. I thoroughly ...
