Beryl Wood's clutch bag is delightful. She constructed the 'new' fabric out of silk strips which she then dyed before making the bag. Bottom left is Gail's wrap for her art equipment. In mid August we had an afternoon of dyeing! Sandy organised us the week before and we tied and folded and twisted fabric ready for the indigo dye bath. When this was completed we then passed the postcards on again for their final touches and finishing off. Top- string shadows on silk base, squared off lines in gutta, diagonal lines in appliglue and angelina applique, finished off with random free machine embroidery. The aim of this blog is enable the members of Silk-n-Threads to share their works with each other as well as a wider audience. Tuesday, 27 January 2015. DISPERSE DYEING AND TRANSFER PRINTING SESSION. We had a good session today using the disperse dyed papers and printing on to a variety of substrates. As disperse dyes work best on man made textiles we chose to use pelmet Vilene, Lutradur, stitch and tear, acrylic felt, thick posh serviettes and fabric containing polyester. Lavender sprigs used as a relief.
