A non-executive Board of voluntary unpaid members meets bi monthly and is accountable for all aspects of SCHA activity. The range of skills and experience afforded by SCHA’s Board members has played a major part in the success and achievements of the organisation to date. The Board continues to be self-reflective, guided by the principles of good governance, to ensure it is skilled, open, accountable and ethical in all that it does. Residents pay a monthly rent, service charge and a support charge, each of which are reviewed annually. (Support could be reviewed more frequently if there is a change in circumstances.) Some of these charges are currently eligible for Housing Benefit and Supporting People subsidy. Shared Ownership purchasers pay a service charge and support charges but an element of the service charge is to cover housing management costs. The exact amount each resident pays depends on their particular circumstances.
