Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Okay, this is really fun! Two thumbs up for Voicethread! Constructing a Congruent Line Segment. Youtube and Teachertube are definitely addicting! I found everything on Youtube from Promethean demonstrations to technology inspiration for the classroom. I included Technology in the 21st Century here and posted Hope for Technology. In the Sandbox. My favorite how-to video is one by Johnny Lee. My sons would love it (although they probably wouldn't make one themselves). :-). After lis...

Tuesday, July 7, 2009. I have had a fantastic time with this workshop! Labels: Reflecting on learning journey. I have learned so much with this workshop. I can't believe how many different social network sites are out there. I think it's pretty smart to geer some social networks towards interests of subjects and topics, not just for your friendships. I have really liked exploring with Classroom 2.0. I added a badge, some pictures, and comments to my profile. On the ning network. So far, I have really enj...

My Journey of the 23 Things! Monday, February 23, 2009. I like the idea of the sandbox - a "closed" place to post wikis. I wonder what it would take to set up a school sandbox and allow parents to see it, but teachers to edit it? Could this take the place of my school website? Wouldn't that be helpful. I guess I could add that to my burning questions! Thursday, February 19, 2009. I understand what a wiki is. I see it's potential in the classroom! I visited the Kindergarten Counting Book Wiki. I struggle ...

Monday, February 23, 2009. Similar to blog pages I find that the individual wiki pages carry personality. Some of them are straight forward. get the information across, while others are very fancy and advanced. I found Code-blue. Despite the plainness it is still a phenomenal educational tool. A teacher can list assignments with due dates (that would stop the straggler student at your desk each class period saying, "what did you do last class? This site was so absolutely amazing that it made the others v...

Thursday, September 30, 2010. Thing #8 - Stretch Activity. Our family has been going to the Farmer's Market in Dallas for over 50 years, so I thought it would be fun to see what content Wikipedia had about this topic. I typed in farmer's markets in dallas, and the first link in the search results. The community collaboration of this organization lends credibility to the content posted on the wiki. Thing #8 - What in the World is a Wiki? Dr Reich's Chemistry Wiki. The Westwood Schools Computer Science.

CLICK HERE FOR BLOGGER TEMPLATES. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Overall, I found this course to be one of the most interesting. There were things that I already knew how to do, but I had forgot about them. I really enjoyed learning about flickr. It wasn't as overwhelming. I was able to navigate that page more efficiently. I had a little difficulty trying to figure out how to get back to the page I created,. But after that it was really easy to add new things to my page. As for educators being familiar with t...

Sunday, October 31, 2010. Is a great resource. I think it would be very helpful in searching for particular books to use as read a-louds for kindergarten. I could do a lot of the leg work in Library Thing. Looking for possible books to meet my teaching needs, then search on MISD library site and Mesquite City Library site to see if the titles are available. Having input from other readers helps to determine if the book would be appropriate or worth reading. My teaching team is now WORLD-WIDE! I found the...

You asked, remember that. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. The Trials of Thing 8. I am familiar with Wikipedia; truthfully, who isn't familiar with Wikipedia? Anyway, as I searched through some of the wikis linked to the 23things page, I was at first completely overwhelmed. I guess I was expecting something more like Wikipedia, including the Encyclopedia set up. Instead I was bombarded with too much extraneous stuff on the page, or at times, a lack of obvious student work. Maybe I'm confused by what looks ...
