Scilly Lure Addicts

Lure fishing adventures in the Isles of Scilly. Thursday, 14 November 2013. A PROPER BRUTE OF A WRASSE! Monday was a bit of a write off with work due to all flights being cancelled with the islands surrounded by a fog blanket so I took the opportunity to head back out to the shallow bay that has been on top form recently. In watermelon candy rigged texas style and was straight into the wrasse. In watermelon and green flake and flicked it back across the entrance to the bay. First cast produced nothin...

Scilly Lure Addicts: September 2012

http://scillylureaddicts.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Lure fishing adventures in the Isles of Scilly. Monday, 17 September 2012. After finding my way to the lower ledges below I wondered how to tackle the mark, thinking back to a conversation with Keith White. With a trace of 5 ft I would be able to fish my lure just above the kelp and right in the target area for any passing wrasse! I tied a 2/0 Jacks EWG hook. To the hook I attached a Yoshikawa Superworm. Anyway back to the fishing! It quickly became clear that this method works and works bloody well .

Lure fishing adventures in the Isles of Scilly. Friday, 30 November 2012. NO PRESSURE INFRONT OF THE TV CAMERAS. Had a call from me old mate Henry Gilbey last week to see if I was able to take a couple of days off from work and go fishing with him - not needing a second invitation I obviously replied YES! Along for the ride was a camera man John and director Alex to film a couple of short films for the Tight Lines. His excitement and enthusiasm manifest into great television! The few days before they wer...

Lure fishing adventures in the Isles of Scilly. Tuesday, 29 January 2013. BLOWING AWAY THE COBWEBS. As with most if not everyone, this weather is really getting to me! When I look back on last winters diary it is frightning to see how little I have been out fishing this year due to gale after gale! I had to get out on sunday as cabin fever was setting in. Problem was. And a texas rigged Jacks 4' Hog. I saw a better sized fish almost at my feet so cast to where I thought it was heading towards and bang, a...

Lure fishing adventures in the Isles of Scilly. Wednesday, 17 October 2012. WHEN THE WEATHER DOES ITS BEST TO SCUPPER THE BEST LAID PLANS. God I have been very slack over the last few weeks and havent managed to get out fishing, well when I say that Ive been slack its mainly been down to being a wimp and not wanting to get a right old soaking with all the rain and wind we have been suffering from. WINTER has definitely arrived on the islands thats for sure! Was very keen to com e. Christ we even had to l...

Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years: June 2013

http://fishingfanatic2012.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Thursday, 13 June 2013. A little update from Jersey. The past month or so in the channel islands can be summed up by four words 'crap weather, good fishing.' We've had to cancel 12 fishing trips in the past fortnight due to strong winds, which although is bad for my savings, means I've had plenty of free time to have a good search around the island for new marks and of course catch a few fish. The last thing I'll ...

Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Sunday, 19 May 2013. April in Jersey (At long last). Well I've been getting a bit behind with my posts of late, a lack of internet access and a busy working schedule being the main reasons for this. Eventually though, I've sorted myself some Wi-Fi and its time to do some catching up. The time soon came though for my first day on the boat. PB smashing Turbot - 8lb 4oz. My first Brill - 6lb dead. Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Saturday, 22 December 2012. A fitting end to what has been an unbelievable year! With just a week to go until my year long species hunt ends, this is almost certainly going to be my last blog entry of the year and I'm sure it won't disappoint. My good mate Scott. Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Sunday, 10 March 2013. Had another 2 day break from work recently and as you'd expect, I made the most of my time off with a bit. ok a lot of fishing. Here's what went down. The first day kicked off with a 6am alarm, waking me with just enough time to get to Holyhead for a charter boat trip I'd booked with mate Steve on-board MyWay. Will hopefully be out with Geth again before I head South for 7 months! With just ...

Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Friday, 18 October 2013. A 4-year wait ends in style : Day 1 back in Wales. Back in North Wales for a long weekend, my choice of mark was heavily reliant on the weather. I would ideally liked to have fished for tope for the whole duration, but a predicted 4ft swell at the mark I wanted to fish meant that it wasn't even worth going to check it was fishable for the first few days. 1st ray of the session. As the tide...

Mission Impossible : To catch 100 species of saltwater fish from British waters in 3 years. Thursday, 20 September 2012. From the brilliant to the bizarre. What is the world coming to lol. I was in two minds as to whether or not I'd fouled it but after Jon had tailed it for me, we realised it was hooked right in the scissors, surely that must have been a deliberate take? Thanks for reading,. Location: Swellies, United Kingdom. Wednesday, 19 September 2012. A nice bass from the Straits. Thanks for reading,.

HRF / LRF Lure Fishing Reports and Discussion From The South West. Monday, 8 July 2013. Summer weather is finally here, with crystal clear waters and blue sunny skies. The down side to this, means I am super-busy at work, and so my opportunities to fish are slim to none! I did manage to get a quick evening session in last week, fishing in the bay, into deep kelpy waters. As the tide ebbed, I was able to access the rock from where I like to hunt the Wrasse. Homeschool: and so it begins. Nov 16th, 2013 at 1:04 PM. This school year started with a couple weeks of the kids' enrichment classes. Then in the month of September a monster road trip, where we didn't do our traditional school, but learned a lot about the places we visited: historical sites and national parks. The kids also were saturated in a billingual existence for the week we visited my parents as my aunt was visiting from France. More vocab/writing, and social studies book work/geography. Diving i...
