SCOT goes POP!

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Thursday, August 13, 2015. I'm sure we're all agreed that it's been far too long since I offended the sensibilities of Commentor/NaebD with an "internet drama post", so here's one to make up for lost time. I was unexpectedly assailed by Kevin Williamson on Twitter yesterday about a blogpost I wrote almost three months ago. On the hoary old topic of "tactical voting on the list" (sic). SCOT goes POP!: SNP vote surges by 25% as heroic Hepburn is confirmed as Calton champion

http://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2015/08/snp-vote-surges-by-25-as-heroic-hepburn.html

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Thursday, August 6, 2015. SNP vote surges by 25% as heroic Hepburn is confirmed as Calton champion. As you probably know, there have been five local government by-elections in Scotland today - four in the City of Glasgow, and one in South Lanarkshire. We already have a result from one of the Glasgow wards. Calton by-election, Glasgow (6th August) :. SNP 55.5% ( 25.5%). Labour 30.0% (-24.6). UKIP 3.8% (n/a). The SN...

SCOT goes POP!: Unlike the Daily Telegraph, a broken clock is accurate twice a day

http://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2015/08/unlike-daily-telegraph-broken-clock-is.html

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Thursday, August 6, 2015. Unlike the Daily Telegraph, a broken clock is accurate twice a day. I know that I'm picking on an easy target when I say that the Telegraph. Updated the inserts to declare Corbyn the favourite - which is rather unfortunate timing, because Andy Burnham was re-established as the clear favourite earlier this week! They also make this weird comment -. Posted by James Kelly. Christ I hope he g...

SCOT goes POP!: We Live in a Free World, I Whittle Down the Wind

http://scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2010/11/we-live-in-free-world-i-whittle-down.html

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Thursday, November 11, 2010. We Live in a Free World, I Whittle Down the Wind. While I'm on the subject of gun control, I thought I might as well offer a few thoughts on the Bill Whittle video. Just because something is fun and scares away weenies doesn't mean that it's stupid". The philosophical substrata for gun ownership is something that most gun-owners understand in their bones". Are heavily concentrated in c...

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Thursday, April 9, 2009. The only freedom I'll ever understand. After my recent post on gun control. Kevin Baker of the blog The Smallest Minority. Not only more free that he's ever imagined, more free than he can ever possibly understand.". So having learnt and understood this valuable lesson, you have no difficulty accepting and valuing your life as it is. The limitations don’t seem that great – ...Well, yes the...

SCOT goes POP!: A little more on that record-breaking TNS poll

A pro-independence blog by James Kelly - voted one of Scotland's top 10 political websites. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. A little more on that record-breaking TNS poll. Just a quick note to let you know that I have a new article at The National. With more analysis of yesterday's TNS poll, which gave the SNP an unprecedented 62% of the Scottish Parliament constituency vote. You can read it HERE. Posted by James Kelly. Labels: 2016 Scottish Parliament election. August 11, 2015 at 6:34 AM. I think its less abo...

NoMoraDiaspora: February 2011

http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Thursday, 24 February 2011. Go jump off a cliff. I've been having a wee interchange with my blog buddy Braveheart. Who keeps me in mind of the narrow perspective that people from the West of Scotland seem to suffer. He's a moderate, sensible fellow by his own admission. PS The Sound track is pretty good too! Tuesday, 8 February 2011. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Having lived overseas for 10 years I returned to Scotland, got...

http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Monday, 6 June 2011. I think the Daily Mash. Tends to do a rather good job with the news, but if you're not a fan, here's an excerpt from the latest spat between people who think cuts are bad and those who think they're good, which I particularly enjoyed. The people who signed the letter stressed it was a very important letter because they were not just people who did not like the cuts, they were economists. There's no par...

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Monday, 2 May 2011. The Vatican gets it right! Still, amongst all the bluster we get this from the Vatican. But the Vatican warned that no Christian should celebrate the death of the al Qaeda leader. He said the Vatican hoped that the death of bin Laden “would not be an occasion for more hate, but for peace". But I hae ma doobts! What am I saying and why am I saying it? It's not just me though. If I indulge in some dis...

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Friday, 24 December 2010. I've no doubt he'll be doing a considerable stint inside - whilst the News of the World won't even be printing an apology for the 'lies' that they printed in exaggerating Sheridan's antics. It's a funny old world right enough! Monday, 20 December 2010. Another 6 charges dropped. Friday, 17 December 2010. 1 down 1 to go. Friday, 10 December 2010. The American wheels of justice. http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2012/04/that-doosan-thing.html

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Monday, 23 April 2012. I'm not going to try to defend or castigate the SNP government for the Doosan thing last week, I think it looks bad on them, but what bothers me immensely about the whole subject is how a massive company in Renfrewshire could postpone a proposed investment in a Renfrewshire site (MP Jim Sheridan. 6 June 2012 at 13:18. Just have the referendum and decide the bloody thing one way or another! Bringing i...

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Tuesday, 2 April 2013. March Misery Makes Maggies Monster More Meaningful. Back in November I convinced (perhaps even cajoled) 2 of my oldest friends into joining me in the Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike. An altogether excellent sounding adventure up the Great Glen. Were created to address. I hope you'll feel able to help me help those who definitely need a wee helping hand at a most horribly difficult time. Ofgem, Ofcom, ...

NoMoraDiaspora: Ofgem, Ofcom, Ofwat - So What?

http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2013/04/ofgem-ofcom-ofwat-so-what.html

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Wednesday, 3 April 2013. Ofgem, Ofcom, Ofwat - So What? What happens to the fine money though? As they raise prices, our tax contribution also rises linearly - so no real reason for the government to object, but if the government do want to make a show of punishing the companies, they 'fine' them - which increases the government take, but does nothing to mitigate the flow of money from our wallets. Have I missed anything?

We're here to see one another through, not see through one another". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Having lived overseas for 10 years I returned to Scotland, got married and started a family. NoMoraDiaspora: Nexus 4

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Sunday, 24 March 2013. Haven't blogged in. quite some time, despite having had plenty of opinions to air. 2013 has a few events in the pipeline that I'd like to capture though, so with my snazzy new Nexus 4, I've installed the blogger app. Get ready for all sorts of poorly formatted and barely proofed rants, made possible by the enormous step forward in technology that is the android swipe keyboard. http://nomoradiaspora.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

The thoughts of a former member of the Scottish Diaspora, now returned to Glasgow. Thursday, 27 January 2011. Calibrating the Moral compass. Sometimes I'm not sure where I stand. Occasionally I rant just for the fun of it! Quite often I (attempt to) play Devil's advocate for fun. I'm a big fan of Al Murray and it's not been unknown for me to play the part of the sexist, mysoginist, xenophobe, racist, sectarian bigot - more to poke fun at the people who actually hold such views than anything. In recent ye...
