Scotland for the Senses: May 2011

http://scotland4thesenses.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Scotland for the Senses. Deep fried pizza. Get it in ye. This is a pizza supper. Take a pizza. Fold it half. Plunge it into hot oil until maximum saturation is reached. If you dare, unfold the greasy pizza and fill it with chips until you are have created a mountainous, fatty, salt-sprinkled, cheese strewn monster. The long walk of foodie torture. A wee while back I undertook a stroll through areas of Edinburgh known as Morningside, Bruntsfield and The Meadows. My first stop was Henri’s of Edinburgh.

Scotland for the Senses. Haggis overload: A Burns birthday special. Around the world tonight, people are tucking into Scotland’s national dish of haggis, accompanied by some piping hot neeps and tatties. But not us at chez Gorgie. No, we opted for something a little less traditional. We must start with the haggis itself, which I bought from Edinburgh’s wonderful Findlay’s of Portobello. Behold, a haggis! Baked covered for about an hour and consumed with great vigour. Using a recipe I found in Sue Lawrenc...

Scotland for the Senses. A touch of Italy in Perthshire. There are ways to will spring to arrive in Scotland. One way is to turn the consumption of ice cream into an event. Yesterday we did just that when we hopped in the car and drove more than an hour to Perthshire. Down a beautiful country road between Perth and Dunkeld, a bright pink and white sign advertises a café and ice cream parlour built in a converted farm building. The Stewart Tower Dairy. After years of dessert-eating practice, I have come t...

Scotland for the Senses: The simple extravagance of Scottish mussels

http://scotland4thesenses.blogspot.com/2010/09/simple-extravagance-of-scottish-mussels.html

Scotland for the Senses. The simple extravagance of Scottish mussels. You know when you eat out at a restaurant and one course is so good it almost causes you to stop breathing? My Scotsman and I recently enjoyed an overnight stay at a hotel. In the highlands, where he ordered Scottish mussels in a white wine and cream sauce. We loved it so much that once we were home we couldn’t stop talking about it and decided to have a go at cooking mussels ourselves. The Scotland lovers club. The following is my fic...

Battling Bedlam: December 2010

http://jatamanzi.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 12, 2010. End of Summer Adventures - Part 4. Continuing with my series on our End of Summer Adventures (yes, I know its December), I wanted to take you with us on our day trip to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. We could not have asked for a more perfect summer day.  Ok, maybe we could have asked for some slightly cooler temperatures, but by the end of our trip, we found a way to cope with the scorching humidity.  More on that later. Battling Bedlam: Our cat is weird.

http://jatamanzi.blogspot.com/2010/11/our-cat-is-weird.html

Saturday, November 27, 2010. Our cat is weird. Our cat is weird. The evidence is as follows:. Fact 1: She likes to hide behind doors and wait for you to stick a finger or toy in the crack so she can attack it. Fact 2: When she feels that you are devoting too much time to the computer (never mind the fact that you have a 20pg paper due in a week, even though you've been procrastinating. Still, she is awfully cute. I think we'll keep her. I LOVE the sagging on top of the couch shot! View my complete profile.

Moving Out & Moving On | Footfalls and Forays

https://footfallsandforays.wordpress.com/2015/01/25/moving-out-moving-on

A photo journal of where I've been and what I'm doing. Moving Out and Moving On. January 25, 2015. By Footfalls and Forays. Shortly before Christmas we sold our house. We’d only lived in it for a little over a year, which was frustrating. We found out our contractor was getting ready to create a couple more developments in our area with houses practically identical to ours. Bearing that in mind, we decided it was now or never to sell.
