Jesus finally returned home from the dead today, briefly stopping in Karori under a heavy police ******. The statue was recovered from an empty rural property in Ahititi, Taranaki in late August and was today welcomed back to its original home. The sculpture is expected to be permanently reinstated at the chapel in March.

This has destroyed the geometry and the wholeness of the church and is a crying shame. This building was always meant to stand alone, the symmetry of the church one of its strengths. Our Lady of Lourdes. St Joseph the Worker. Just as the writers style makes him choose one word over another, the architects style chooses one detail over another. Scott paid attention to details. Because it looks good. We had just been learning about classical geometrical methods for deriving proportions in architecture. Will always remember his (Scotts) reply to my question about what system he used - he just said Nah - I don't bother with any of that stuff - I just do it if it looks right!
