seals on the move

Seals on the move. Thursday, May 14, 2015. Meet the elevation profile of a "cruisy" run with the Dandenong Trail Runners. Note my heart rate. No Maffetone training here! This evening I met up with my other running buddy for our laps around Gardiners Creek Reserve, which is a very easy flat 3km loop. Although we run in the opposite direction to that Strava segment). I had planned to turn up a little earlier to squeeze in a couple of laps of the bumpy " Box Hill South loop. On first impressions, Point Cook...

seals on the move: Just plodding along

http://www.sealsonthemove.blogspot.com/2015/01/just-plodding-along.html

Seals on the move. Monday, January 5, 2015. It's possibly the prettiest run of the week, so it's really not a chore at all. One of the Tawny Frogmouths at Schwerkolt Cottage, where we start our Tuesday trail runs. So my average pace has slowed down to about 6:30/km, which isn't too bad really. While I'm in this easy muck-about state, I've been trying to encourage the dog to run. Alhtough so far I've found I can only do that if I let her off leash and run away from her! Walk on a leash. I'm still playing ...

seals on the move: February 2015

http://www.sealsonthemove.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Seals on the move. Sunday, February 8, 2015. Although it wasn't really an accident because I suspected that it could happen. I just wasn't sure if it would happen. I killed my Garmin FR70. I don't actually have the best history for this watch. It's meant to be waterproof to 50m, but the story begins with the first incarnation I had of this watch - the FR60. You might think that was the end of the story, but it's not. Because the watchband of the replacement FR60 broke! Which I use on the bike because the...

seals on the move: New kicks: the Brooks Glycerin 12

http://www.sealsonthemove.blogspot.com/2014/12/new-kicks-brooks-glycerin-12.html

Seals on the move. Friday, December 19, 2014. New kicks: the Brooks Glycerin 12. With my original Triumph 10s well and truly dead, I needed another "second pair" of shoes. The local factory outlets don't currently have the Saucony Triumph 10 in a suitable size, so I had to go out and buy a new shoe! As an aside, I continue to find it amusing that the Triumph 10 felt fine at about 500km. But then completely died at 600km. So now I get to stop by the Converse (for Saucony) and Brooks factory outlets! 16/11...

seals on the move: Peroneal tendonitis

http://www.sealsonthemove.blogspot.com/2014/12/peroneal-tendonitis.html

Seals on the move. Saturday, December 13, 2014. The day after the run I made an appointment to see a podiatrist who had been recommended to me by a couple of the Dandenong Trail Runners. That I run around the Mullum Mullum with on Tuesday mornings. We don't have a set route on Mullum Tuesdays, so sometimes it really is Spaghetti Tuesday on a Tuesday. But it still wasn't as easy as it should have been! Coincidentally, or perhaps in league with the podiatrist, "Hello calf muscles! Says Running Times magazi...

The IRONic Jogger: November 2014

http://jkkruns.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Stuff about iron deficiency. Saturday, November 8, 2014. A running teeter totter. There's been a fair bit of fatigue to contend with since returning from the US. On the plus side, the muscles are not tight and uncomfortable, the fatigue is more of a general malaise, similar to what it was like when it all began way back when (it's been nearly 4 years! Gungahlin parkrun 1 November, the end is in sight! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. A running teeter totter. Run Tall, Walk Tall.

The IRONic Jogger: Back to the hills

http://jkkruns.blogspot.com/2015/06/back-to-hills.html

Stuff about iron deficiency. Thursday, June 18, 2015. Back to the hills. It is unclear why I am overloading the hamstrings on the flat, it could be to do with muscle weaknesses elsewhere such as the glutes and core. So I am currently consulting with someone on how to correct these imbalances and see if I can banish tired and tight hamstrings. Only time will tell. Watch this space. June 19, 2015 at 11:36 AM. June 21, 2015 at 5:43 PM. Thanks TF, I knew you would have only good things to say about hills!

The IRONic Jogger: Parkrun #37 in some mizzle

http://jkkruns.blogspot.com/2015/08/parkrun-37-in-some-mizzle.html

Stuff about iron deficiency. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Parkrun #37 in some mizzle. The grey skies and light mizzle were not a hindrance at Gungahlin parkrun today. The conditions were actually pretty good for running. All the Gunners runners were joined by Gary Wilmot and his crew from Hearts Across Australia. It was good to have some red hearts to brighten up the day. Gary (aka no more Mr Fat Guy) is doing good things to raise money for the Heart Foundation. August 15, 2015 at 4:23 PM. Chris Runs 4 Fun. Running and all the adventures it brings. October 12, 2014. Melbourne Marathon #5 Part 2. WOW what a day, I learned new things and had some great experiences, without any delay…. here’s how things went down. So off i went to one of the many portaloos lined up before the start line. However one thing that surprised me was none of them had lights on, and at 6am in the dark its fair to say once again I just hoped for the best. Ever tried to drop #2s in the dark? By this stage I was confide...

The day my bike bit me and other amazing stories | One day at a time

https://cathyn61.wordpress.com/2014/10/26/the-day-my-bike-bit-me-and-other-amazing-stories

Running, photos and thoughts for 2013, one day at a time. One day at a time. The day my bike bit me and other amazing stories. Its been an up and down week…mostly down. By Friday I was tired, lacking energy, and had too many things on my plate, and I’m not talking my dinner plate. And it’s not like I’m training every day. I had taken Thursday off from training because I was tired. There were drills and for once I didn’t totally suck at them, kicking sets – without fins! I was out cycling early Saturday m...

The IRONic Jogger: Parkrunners in the mist

http://jkkruns.blogspot.com/2015/08/parkrunners-in-mist.html

Stuff about iron deficiency. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Parkrunners in the mist. After a long hiatus away from parkrun, today seemed as good a time as any to head back. There is no real resolution of the muscle problems, but as they will remain a part of life, it's all about 'management'. Craig Wisdom from Kingston Physiotherapy. Thinks the tight muscle issues are probably neural in origin thanks to a very stiff lower back. Oh the joys of aging! Nadine speeding through the fog. August 11, 2015 at 8:22 PM.

How slow is too slow and does it really matter? How slow is too slow and does it really matter? December 11, 2014. I can relate to this…. So why all this focus on pace anyway? Well I know myself that when I finish a run the first thing I do is go to my watch and check out my splits. This is not. Running Divas – Erica’s 12th Marathon. So Slow…….in posting run reports… →.
