Continually seeking the silver lining

Saturday, December 8, 2007. Show and tell: Collections. Friday, December 7, 2007. I saw a McDonald's ad on the side of a bus recently, and I thought the design was interesting. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an image of it. The designer shaped the straw in the cup to look like "$1" for the dollar menu options. I thought it was a pretty neat typographic solution. I will keep looking for an image of it. Monday, December 3, 2007. Show and Tell: Anything. Sunday, December 2, 2007. Old, soft cloth.

Continually seeking the silver lining: Show and Tell: Definition

http://seekingsilverlining.blogspot.com/2007/11/show-and-tell-definition.html

Sunday, November 25, 2007. Show and Tell: Definition. As a definition, I brought in something from "Madame Bovary," again, since no one else in class, besides me, was familiar with it. Flaubert's defines love through the main character, Madame Bovary. Love, she believed, had to come suddenly, like a great clap of thunder and a lightning flash, like a tempest from heaven, that falls upon your life, scattering your ideals like leaves, and hurls your very soul into the abyss.". Continually seeking the silver lining: Show and Tell: Narrative

http://seekingsilverlining.blogspot.com/2007/11/show-and-tell-description.html

Sunday, November 25, 2007. Show and Tell: Narrative. For show and tell I brought in Flaubert's "Madame Bovary," as my example of narrative. It is a novel that is told by Monsieur Bovary's school mate. I don't have the book with me at the moment, but I will post a an excerpt soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Continually seeking the silver lining: Wine Bottle Labels

http://seekingsilverlining.blogspot.com/2007/11/wine-bottle-labels.html

Friday, November 30, 2007. I absolutely love wine label designs. I think that it is a great area of design that allows for a lot of different options. You really need to be inventive and create a mood, feeling, taste, etc. I've started to save the ones that I really like, but I'm not sure what the best way would be to remove the label from the bottle without destroying it. Anyone have any thoughts? My kitchen counter is starting to become cluttered with bottles! December 22, 2008 at 7:09 AM.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008. An apple walks into a bar. Have you seen these fruit bars from Trader Joe's. This has got to be my all-time favorite product name for a fruit bar. Not only is the pun wonderful, and the description indicative of whole fruit goodness, but it leaves me wanting more. What happens next? Whoever wrote this is my hero! The Teapot: 11/2007

http://designteapot.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Where ideas, thoughts and other tidbits come to steep. Still working on it. This is for Project 6 (the 3-D description). I’m still tweaking it, but let me know what you think. You start down one road only to find it dead ends after hours of work. Now you have valuable time invested here, do you dump it pack up and start over? Or do you salvage what you can, limp along for a while and pray for a spark of ingenuity? The spark appeared before, but will it come again? Dewey vs. Color. I couldn’t resist...

http://inthesquare.blogspot.com/2008/02/this-cake-is-as-old-as-helvetica.html

Friday, February 15, 2008. This Cake Is as Old as Helvetica! With a name like German Chocolate Cake, you would think this dessert was cooked up in some Bavarian kitchen, but the recipe was first published in a Texas newspaper in 1958. The dessert is named after the man who invented this particular kind of sweet chocolate for Baker's Chocolate: Sam German. We no longer know the name of the original recipe writer. For more on this topic and recipes, read " German chocolate: It's more than just a cake.

http://inthesquare.blogspot.com/2007/12/now-that-is-ad-for-jeans.html

Friday, December 14, 2007. Now that is an ad for jeans! Check out this billboard for jeans. In case you can't see it, the text reads: At this moment, your bum is completely exposed. If it were in a sexy pair of jeans, it would attract attention all the time! Too bad the idea doesn't work in brochure form. Ha, this is a great ad! December 14, 2007 at 9:59 PM. A place for my words and images to hang. 05 December, 2007. You're not a genius- it's called photoshop. PicWash, a web service that allows you to upload your photos and have them professionally retouched within 48 hours is no miracle as NYLON would have you believe. Its called photoshop, people. I actually commend this guy for ripping people off when clearly this kind of work can be done on your own computer with the right technology. Good idea. :). January 2, 2008 at 4:49 PM. A place for my words and images to hang. 25 September, 2007. We are all one. Today, while I was reading for next Saturday's class I came across a sentence that said, "Today writers must think like designers and designers must think like writers." This may sound stupid and obvious but I finally found the point of the pub design program. In this program one of the main questions between students is "are you a writer or a designer? Nothing against the site, I do flip through it every now and then, I just feel that references to YouTube are everywhere (television news, newspapers, etc) and I wanted to find material someplace else. Seeking Simple

Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Monday, February 09, 2015. Okay, so we as humans require comfort for many reasons, discussed in Part 1. But where should we turn? Why should I pray to God for comfort? The apostle Paul explains his view in his second letter to the Corinthian church, as he describes his own need for comfort. He was being persecuted, attacked, threatened, and feared even death. The Lord will surely comfort Zion
