In The Square: January 2008
http://inthesquare.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 22, 2008. An apple walks into a bar. Have you seen these fruit bars from Trader Joe's. This has got to be my all-time favorite product name for a fruit bar. Not only is the pun wonderful, and the description indicative of whole fruit goodness, but it leaves me wanting more. What happens next? Whoever wrote this is my hero! Special thanks to Brian for bringing a Trader Joe's. Apple fruit bar to lunch at work. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Valerie Hoy - Project Green.

The Teapot: 11/2007
http://designteapot.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Where ideas, thoughts and other tidbits come to steep. Still working on it. This is for Project 6 (the 3-D description). I’m still tweaking it, but let me know what you think. You start down one road only to find it dead ends after hours of work. Now you have valuable time invested here, do you dump it pack up and start over? Or do you salvage what you can, limp along for a while and pray for a spark of ingenuity? The spark appeared before, but will it come again? Dewey vs. Color. I couldn’t resist...

In The Square: This Cake Is as Old as Helvetica!
http://inthesquare.blogspot.com/2008/02/this-cake-is-as-old-as-helvetica.html
Friday, February 15, 2008. This Cake Is as Old as Helvetica! With a name like German Chocolate Cake, you would think this dessert was cooked up in some Bavarian kitchen, but the recipe was first published in a Texas newspaper in 1958. The dessert is named after the man who invented this particular kind of sweet chocolate for Baker's Chocolate: Sam German. We no longer know the name of the original recipe writer. For more on this topic and recipes, read " German chocolate: It's more than just a cake.

In The Square: now that is an ad for jeans!
http://inthesquare.blogspot.com/2007/12/now-that-is-ad-for-jeans.html
Friday, December 14, 2007. Now that is an ad for jeans! Check out this billboard for jeans. In case you can't see it, the text reads: At this moment, your bum is completely exposed. If it were in a sexy pair of jeans, it would attract attention all the time! Too bad the idea doesn't work in brochure form. Ha, this is a great ad! December 14, 2007 at 9:59 PM. the Salt mine: you're not a genius--it's called photoshop
http://micsalty.blogspot.com/2007/12/youre-not-genius-its-called-photoshop.html
A place for my words and images to hang. 05 December, 2007. You're not a genius- it's called photoshop. PicWash, a web service that allows you to upload your photos and have them professionally retouched within 48 hours is no miracle as NYLON would have you believe. Its called photoshop, people. I actually commend this guy for ripping people off when clearly this kind of work can be done on your own computer with the right technology. Good idea. :). January 2, 2008 at 4:49 PM. the Salt mine: 2007-09-23
http://micsalty.blogspot.com/2007_09_23_archive.html
A place for my words and images to hang. 25 September, 2007. We are all one. Today, while I was reading for next Saturday's class I came across a sentence that said, "Today writers must think like designers and designers must think like writers." This may sound stupid and obvious but I finally found the point of the pub design program. In this program one of the main questions between students is "are you a writer or a designer? anitsirk: old navy typography
http://anitsirk82.blogspot.com/2007/12/old-navy-typography.html
Being a fan of Old Navy's clothing, I frequent their website. I've been noticing their latest 'rebranding' efforts over the past few months (they send me a newly designed credit card after each rebranding - I think I've gotten 4 in the last few years), and they are currently using a very interesting choices in typography. The Teapot: Nothing against it, but . . .
http://designteapot.blogspot.com/2007/12/nothing-against-it-but.html
Where ideas, thoughts and other tidbits come to steep. Nothing against it, but . . . I decided early on that I wanted to get through the semester without posting a link from YouTube on my blog. Nothing against the site, I do flip through it every now and then, I just feel that references to YouTube are everywhere (television news, newspapers, etc) and I wanted to find material someplace else. I made it up to today December 5. Check out Becky’s take on. What is Graphic Design? Tue Dec 11, 11:25:00 PM EST.
