Friday, November 21, 2014. Oh my, how time flies! After months and months of construction, inspections, changes, more inspections, and (finally) approvals, we managed to open our new campus on Wednesday, September 24th (at 1:35 pm, to be exact! I could go on, but you get the idea. It has been, for the most part, a normal school year around here so far! In which he discusses children's natural ways of learning through play. We have been using the hash-tag #playmatters in many of our Facebook posts, as...

Monday, October 22, 2012. Sunny Days / Rainy Days. Who wants to go outside on a cold and windy day like today? There is rarely a day that we don't venture to the park or play in the yard, after all, there's no such thing as "bad" weather! However, there are days that we spend more time indoors. doing art projects, putting together puzzles, cooking, reading and generally getting creative. We built a puzzle ball! Godzilla painting his baby pumpkin. Solshine's baby pumpkin. how cute! Monday, October 8, 2012.

Learning Through Living: September 2014

Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Blast from the Past, Part 2. 2008 flash-back: Ebag and his buddy bake cookies in the kitchen. How's THAT for a flashback smile! This morning, while enjoying a cup of coffee and an unusually quiet start to my day, I clicked on an MSNBC link entitled “10 songs for back to school.”. It led me to the following article:. Ten songs to accompany your kids’ end-of-summer blues. Updated: 12:46 pm ET Aug. 31, 2004. The article goes on to list ten songs that parents can sing to celebr...

Learning Through Living: April 2015

Thursday, April 16, 2015. What's "passion" got to do with it? Recently, a friend posted this article on facebook, " Our Push for 'Passion,' and why it harms kids. For most children, childhood isn't about passion, but rather about exploration. Our job as parents is to nurture that exploration, not put an end to it. When we create an expectation that children must find their one true interest so early in life, we cut short a process of discovery that may easily take a lifetime.". Let's call THAT passion!

Monday, January 14, 2013. Below freezing in Utah. On 1/14/2013 I made this video http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Of water freezing at below freezing temperatures. Learning Through Living: March 2013
http://thesegolilyjournal.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 1, 2013. Sego Lily School goes wild! We thought the animals at the zoo could use a fun and educational experience so we brought them some Sego Lily School students to look at! Some of them seemed interested in us, some of them were more interested in sleeping and eating. That's okay, we understand, sleeping and eating are some of our favorite activities too. The meerkat was quite intrigued, he watched us for quite awhile before settling down to nap with his buddies. Domo gives Elf a ride.

Learning Through Living: When self-directed learning looks like going to school... somewhere else
http://thesegolilyjournal.blogspot.com/2015/02/when-self-directed-learning-looks-like.html
Saturday, February 7, 2015. When self-directed learning looks like going to school. somewhere else. Those of you who know me personally, as well as many who are connected to Sego Lily School through Facebook, this blog, and other avenues, know that my children attend Sego Lily. In fact, were it not for said children, Sego Lily School would not exist. more specifically, were it not for my high energy first kiddo, there would more than likely not be a Sego Lily School. April 13, 2015 at 10:17 PM. We feel i...
