Community Programs and Services. Poplar River First Nation (Azaadiwi-ziibi Nitam-Anishinaabe) is an Ojibway First Nation with some blending of the Cree dialect. Poplar River First Nation Reserve no. 16 is located on the east side of Lake Winnipeg at the mouth of the Poplar River. The largest urban centre nearest to the community is Winnipeg located approximately 400 kilometres to the south. The reserve consists of 3,800 acres. The First Nation is signatory to Treaty Five (5), Adhesion signed in 1875.

Community Programs and Services. Traditional Spring Celebration with a Community Feast. Annual Fishing Derby’s held spring, summer, fall and winter (Gifts/Cash Prizes) for Youth/Adults/Children. It is an incentive for people to participate as a family and to include their children. Participants go upland for five days to Weaver Lake for camping, life skills and other recreational activities. This also includes a Survival Camp. Annual Treaty Days Celebrations which are held in the last week of July.
