因此在本校改名科大後，除在專業訓教育追求卓越外，並發揚 勤益 精神與重視全人教育為前題，以校訓 勤毅誠樸 為主軸，規劃96學年度勞作教育轉型為 勞作與社會服務教育 ，另於97學年度將服務學習列為本校三大畢業門檻之一，學生除需於大一修習勞作與社會服務教育課程(勞作教育16小時與社會服務教育20小時)外，亦需於畢業前修習服務學習54小時畢業門檻時數，透過身體力行以服務群己之生活教育，讓學生在工作中學習體悟，目的在養成學生自律、自治、勤勞服務與自立、合作、誠實及愛校惜福的生活態度與刻苦耐勞的人格特質，並期待學生畢業後，具有高尚品格與人文素養及社會與國際之競爭力，並能以平實負責之工作態度，貢獻所長以服務社會。 國立勤益科技大學 - 博雅通識教育中心 Liberal Education Center. 電話: 04-2392-4505 分機 5201、5202、5203、5204. 勞作與服務學習E-mail: service@ncut.edu.tw.
