A letter from Istanbul. Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Posted by Steve Locke. Monday, January 21, 2008. Wall Drawing Number 1. Posted by Steve Locke. My studio here at SCAD has a wall that is about 22 feet long. It is great inside the studio and I have plenty of room to work. The wall on the outside of the studio is blank, painted with the ubiquitous gloss white paint that I guess art schools everywhere use. I am confronted by this wall (what I guess Melville. The artist David Batchelor. At this stage o...

A letter from Istanbul. Thursday, May 15, 2008. You're black wherever you go.". I am getting ready to leave Istanbul. In a lot of ways, I have left already. I have sort of contracted into a ball here, walking around the city in the morning and coming back to the hotel in the afternoons to sleep for a few hours. Then going out in the evening for dinner at a couple of kebap houses near Tunel Station. It's really great food and it's very cheap. I think I have exhausted my time here. . People and let me ...

A letter from Istanbul: September 2008
http://aletterfromistanbul.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
A letter from Istanbul. Saturday, September 27, 2008. A God of Small Things. I felt very sick inside hearing this. My mother died of lung cancer. I am sure that this woman feels like her spiritual connection was so strong that God just took her cancer away. Did my mom pray the wrong way? Was her faith not strong enough? Was there a particular thing she needed to do? Kill a fatted calf, for example? Posted by Steve Locke. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Illustrators Partnership/Orphan Works Resource Page.

A letter from Istanbul: Magic carpet ride....

A letter from Istanbul. Sunday, May 11, 2008. OK I think a sufficient amount of time has passed since the purchase of my Turkish carpet to begin to talk about what happened. 160;I was really enjoying myself looking and deciding which I liked. He was very friendly and said "Didn't you come to Istanbul to see beautiful things? All right," I said. "You? This is bullshit&...
