Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Flowers in your Hair. If you were anything like me when I was a little girl, I spent most of the Spring time on the play ground stringing together Clover flowers to make necklaces, bracelets and crowns. My favorite teacher always ended up with a crown of weeds along with me - and I was so proud! I guess it's that little girl inside that is so very happy to be able to wear this happy trend again! Hemline Blog: July 2011
http://shophemlineblog.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. Today I am going to focus on iconic style. We are surrounded by visual images, and so much of what we aspire for ourselves comes from these visual representations of style, class and glamor. Everyone's idea of style is different, but by examining icons of the past, we can sometimes predict the styles of the future. Here are a few of my favorite style icons. Enjoy, and tell us who some of your favorite style icons are and why. 1 1960's 'it girl' Edie Sedgwick. 8 Stylest Rachel Zoe.

Brown-Eyed Southern Girl: June 2011
http://www.browneyedsoutherngirl.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
A good life - slow and simple. Saturday, June 25, 2011. Other people's old stuff is COOL. I have always loved old things. I don’t know if it’s part of my Southern heritage, but I do know that it’s nurtured in the South in a way that I’ve not seen in other parts of the country. . Now, my darling husband is from California (where NOTHING is old), but he shares my fondness for antiques and falling-apart junk that could. Be really cool in the right hands. Brown-Eyed Southern Girl: Polenta is just fancy-talk for cheese grits

A good life - slow and simple. Monday, July 23, 2012. Polenta is just fancy-talk for cheese grits. For most of my life, I've heard people talk about grits like they are some kind of enigmatic Southern phenomenon. As if only people who grew up thinking they were normal could possibly enjoy eating them. Not quite as bad as something like squirrel stew, but still one of those things that might elicit an "ewww" from a non-Southerner. Shrimp and grits from SouthernLiving.com. They have literally hundreds of r...

A good life - slow and simple. Friday, February 24, 2012. DE-licious and easy chickpeas. I came up with this dish when I needed something to take to a potluck, and everyone wanted the recipe. Then I made it for the family, and my sweetie loved it. I figured it's a keeper! If you're not sure what to do with chickpeas (or if you're just looking for something different), give this recipe a try. It's got a lot going for it:. Fast and easy preparation. Portable (because it can be served at room temperature).

A good life - slow and simple. Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Carve the turkey like a pro. After you've spent all day roasting the perfect turkey, the last thing you want to do is blow it by hacking the thing to bits. At my house, this is a man's job. I'm too busy making gravy to deal with carving the turkey. It works great, looks beautiful on the platter, and the meat stays nice and juicy. I highly recommend this video —. It's simple and easy to follow. Happy eating! Links to this post. Nice places to visit.
