The Maps Title Block. The survey ship that produced the island survey, of which this map was later based upon, was HMS Stork. She was a 4-gun composite screw gunboat, built at the Samuda Brothers engineering and ship building firm on the Isle of Dogs in London, and launched on 18th May 1882. She was used as a survey ship from 1887, lent to the Navy League in 1913 and moored at Hammersmith as a training ship for boys, before finally being broken up at Rainham, Essex in 1950.
