Exploring wine in and around San Francisco. To reiterate — I’m not a wine expert. And I hope I never consider myself one. What I enjoy most about wine is that there is always more to learn, and I plan to make this a lifelong hobby of exploration. That’s not to say I haven’t picked up a thing or two along the way. This past year, I managed to squeeze in time working harvest in Burgundy at Domaine Lucie et Auguste Lignier. Morey St. Denis) and Le Grappin. Thierry Allemand, Dom. Clape, Dom. Jamet, M...Berna...

Exploring wine in and around San Francisco. Arlequin Beaujolais Bash – This Thursday. November 20, 2013. A wine retail friend of mine recently told me about a customer who was a bit wary about accepting her recommendation that he should add a bottle of Jean Foillard’s Morgon Cote du Py to his shopping cart. The conversation went something like this:. 8220;Do you think I’ll like it? 8220;Do you kick puppies? 8220;No.”. 8220;OK. You’ll like it.”. Here’s what is on tap for the tasting:. Co te de Brou illy.

Taste Profile | SF Wine Blog

Exploring wine in and around San Francisco. It’s hard to find someone with whom you agree 100%, 100% of the time. Seriously, do you know anyone who shares the exact tastes you have in TV shows, books, or John Hughes movies (though if it’s not “The Breakfast Club,” there’s something seriously wrong with you). So how do you know if your personal wine preferences lines up with that of a professional wine reviewer? Thinking back to my most memorable meals, they were always topped off with a glass of dessert ...

A guide to wine, for the broke and thirsty Montreal student. July 11, 2014. Wine Review: NV, Australian Ridge, Bin 29, White. This is a great golden-yellow dep wine! It’s primarily composed of chardonnay. It tastes like summer: apricots, peaches, golden plums, lemon, grapefruit, candied almonds, and a little bit of butter. Well-balanced with a slight sourness and hint of oak. Beautiful colour; medium viscosity. Good value. 3.5/5 $12.99 12.5%. Next post →. I cook with #wine. Bottled Wine 3 years ago.

A guide to wine, for the broke and thirsty Montreal student. Monthly Archives: July 2014. Wine Review: NV, GreyStonePark, Bin 87, Australia, Red. July 22, 2014. This red wine has a beautiful, elegant, dark, purply-red hue to it. It is slightly syrupy in texture with a long finish and full body. It smells like black pepper, dried prunes, nutmeg, cloves, black currants, and freshly-chopped wood. I enjoyed this wine. I found it to be balanced, intriguing, and powerful but not overwhelming. A guide to wine, for the broke and thirsty Montreal student. Monthly Archives: March 2013. Wine Romanticization and “The New Bottled Wine”. March 26, 2013. A new trend has been storming the wine industry this year: the entry of the portable, durable, individually packaged servings of wine. Think: tetra pack of wine. Then I realized: ME! How many times have I gone to a concert or game and wanted to be drinking wine instead of beer? But how weird would that be? Has been a long standing, common, household t...

It’s flavourful, and has a great balance of sweetness and acidity. Easily drank the entire bottle.
