http://rippaherds.blogspot.com/2012/11/stockdog-clinic-at-trishs-new-digs.html
Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Sunday, November 25, 2012. Stockdog Clinic at Trish’s New Digs. Host a stockdog clinic with Kathy before she heads north for the Winter. Some basic thoughts that I had:. I really need to find some sturdy bamboo to make the bottle sticks. Rippa needs them. Oh, and I got to pet a lot of dogs, which is always lovely. When I set up my sheep, don’t be marrie...

Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Monday, September 9, 2013. W Lazy J Cattle Camp: Lectures by Betty Williams. So some highlights from Betty’s talks at camp (I don’t do stenography, so this is paraphrased, I apologize if I get anything wrong):. If cattle are worried about a dog, they’ll turn to look for it. They have really bad depth perception -. The cow the dog is heeling isn’t necess...

http://rippaherds.blogspot.com/2011/03/rippa-gets-handled-and-you-get-mini.html
Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Rippa gets handled and you get a mini Kathy Warren clinic. So the video is fuzzy because my computer wanted to take FOUR HOURS to render this 9 min video and I was not having that. It’s not as pretty to look at, but you get the idea. March 24, 2011 at 6:05 AM. That is one willful little dog. March 24, 2011 at 7:39 AM. Day 2–On...

Puzzling Out the Intricacies of Stockdog Training. Monday, January 31, 2011. Ups and Downs; Backsliding. Phone call dealt with Sue and I decide that it would be fun to use the whole group and have one of us hold the sheep with our presence and dog and the other send their dog for the outrun, lift and fetch and then reverse the process Playing catch. It was fun and a good way to get back into a positive mood from our earlier work. But I am still very unhappy with myself on how. Handled the duck problems.

Rippa the Stockdog: Curt Pate Part 2: The notes
http://rippaherds.blogspot.com/2014/07/curt-pate-part-2-notes.html
Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Sunday, July 20, 2014. Curt Pate Part 2: The notes. You can read part 1 here. Dustin Wood uses his horse’s butt as a wing (as mentioned below). Mr Pate’s cattle clinic was one of the best clinics I’ve been to for a number of reasons:. It was ridiculously cheap. Think of this as. 8211; that’s how he thinks of low-stress stockmanship. No hurky jerky&#...When in...

Rippa the Stockdog: A "using dog" or a "using person"?
http://rippaherds.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-using-dog.html
Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. A "using dog" or a "using person"? I've learned a phrase from Shannon: "using dog." Like a "using horse," a using dog is a dog that gets it done on the ranch but maybe isn't so wonderful for exhibition because of whatever reason. I'm starting to think I've got "using dogs.". 3 Bringing them back out of the yard. Both dogs do this p...

Rippa the Stockdog: June 2015
http://rippaherds.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Come along with us as we learn how to start an Australian Shepherd puppy, hopefully all the way through to a Working Trial championship and beyond. Monday, June 15, 2015. Back to Basics Again. Here's why I'm still a mediocre trainer at best: I entered my dog before she was ready in a trial, put too much pressure on her, and caused her to mostly shut down on me, not because she doesn't want to work, but because she doesn't know what I'm trying to do and I'm telling her too harshly - or so I think. Rippa's...

Neighborly Place is all about our homestead farm. Here we try to enjoy the simple things in life. Visit our painted desert and Katahdin sheep, duck and chicken pages for animals for sale. Thursday, June 27, 2013. Two weeks later.they haven't changed much! Here are some of the MF/Calico Cochin chicks two weeks later. They haven't really changed much have they? A little bigger, a few more feathers but still cute! I think this is Kt's favourite-it's hard to tell what color it will end up. A box of cuteness.
