Treebeard were formed by Haze. Brothers Chris and Paul McMahon plus Paul Chisnell ( Haze. Three Legged Cat, Old Pekuliar), Gordon Walker (Ant Hill Mob and guest on World Turtle's 'Wilderness of Eden') and Chris Jellis (Old Pekuliar). Originally called Acoustic Haze, the band changed their name to Treebeard, after the character in Lord of the Rings, to avoid confusion with Haze. The band describe their style as 'Heavy Wood', a concept stolen from the Nottingham 80's duo Twice Bitten, who supported Haze.
