A geek travelling diary. Feb 13, 2013 -. Yesterday’s successful Metro venture meant that today I could do the touristy thing. I opted to visit Splendid China Folk Village, which is part of the massive Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) segment of Shenzhen (Window of the World is also part of OCT). All of the Chinese structures known internationally have a presence in this theme park: The Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, the Emperor’s Summer Palace, and Jiayuguan Fort. The model of the Great Wall of Chin...

A geek travelling diary. Aug 30, 2013 -. OCT-East theme park, Shenzhen. OCT East is about a 40 minute taxi ride from the central Futian business district, this costs about 82RMB each way. The other alternative is a bus, as the Shenzhen Metro system doesn’t reach as far east as Yantian. Water park and Swiss village. So I looked out for a few alternatives. I also took screenshots of chachaba’s 3D map of Shenzhen. The tablet proved the right device for an offline Google Maps....

A geek travelling diary. Nov 7, 2015 -. Hong Kong International Airport to Luohu, Shenzhen. I’m basing my current trip to Shenzhen around the district of Luohu. Luohu has it’s own border crossing; the LoWu station on the Hong Kong side, which is reachable via the Hong Kong train service. Today’s route sees us taking a bus and a train to the border crossing, and a proper Shenzhen taxi to my hotel. Is still an option. The route I cover from Hong Kong Internation Airport to Luohu hotels is:. The main prepar...
