The Caledonian Canal is across the fault line between Fort William and Inverness and true canal links Loch Linnhe, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness. We hired a cruiser for a week from Caley Cruisers which was great fun. Http:/ www.caleycruisers.com/. There are loads of things to see and do along the way. For example Urquhart Castle. We ate at the boathouse which was great and in a lovely location.

Skip to primary content. July 29, 2011. We arrived in Oban (the mainland port for Mull) in the late afternoon. We put our little car in the ferry queue and bought our tickets – 80 pounds return, including the car – not too bad at all! The ferry to Mull takes just over 45 minutes and is actually quite a nice boat, it has several lounges over different levels and a huge bar. How could he do that on Mull in the winter? Answer: put a Shieling tent. Over it, so wind passing the open ends made a draught. It all worked beautifully.
