Life with the Lords: There's 180 days of home school...
http://thelordfamily.blogspot.com/2012/07/theres-180-days-of-home-school.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2012. There's 180 days of home school. Yeah, I tried to go with the Phineas and Ferb theme song.and it didn't really work. But, I will say that home school is sometimes like P&F.where I am Dofenshmirtz and I trap Perry (a.k.a. my students) in some sort of ineffective trap in order to fill their young brains with knowledge. Hmm, maybe the analogy really isn't getting anywhere. I know that every day can't be "fun," but I want us to be able to enjoy it most of the time. I got out my x-acto...

Life with the Lords: February 2012
http://thelordfamily.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 13, 2012. Look around, leaves are brown. And and and.could the sky possibly be a hazy shade of winter? I know I'm glued to trying to discern the meaning of meteorological models that I have no grasp of understanding. In the hopes.oh the hopes.of winter. I have several posts that I need to make from our Disney adventure- scrapbook pages and race reports. But, I feel like I can't do those race reports before I do the other two races that I did in May and October. Btw, that is not. Well 2 t...

Life with the Lords: An Unexpected Run
http://thelordfamily.blogspot.com/2014/08/an-unexpected-run.html
Sunday, August 10, 2014. A post about how a long run turned into a teachable moment. Last week's ten mile run was rain delayed- torrential downpour led to slippery trails, so I concluded the run at 5 miles and then finished the remaining 5 on Sunday. Not as planned, but it works. This weekend was looking to be a repeat, weather wise, of last week. I set out Saturday afternoon to complete 12 miles. Why are you doing this? Who do you think you are? In the last week, I've had two reminders of how fleeting l...

http://thelordfamily.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 02, 2013. Eight years.it’s really hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that I haven’t seen or spoken to my mother in eight years. A lot has happened in eight years.two presidential elections, two summer Olympics. Law school graduation and marriage for Russ. And to top it all off, you now have SEVEN total grandchildren. Wow! I often wonder what it would be like.we miss you so much. I grieve the memories that we didn’t have a chance to make. Posted by The Lord Family.

Friday, October 07, 2011. Friday Phone Dump, edition 1. I've seen this done on a couple of blogs I read: Friday Phone Dump. It's a good way to keep up with the photos you've been taking with your phone. Godspeed, Steve Jobs. Thank you for your innovation and creativity. And thank you for your kind comments on the grief post. Thank you. Here is a little collage that I made with Picasa of the highlights of the past week as seen through my phone. 12 Love's baby soft. Am I 12? 13 My little puggle! Well, here...

Life with the Lords: Reflections
http://thelordfamily.blogspot.com/2014/01/reflections.html
Thursday, January 02, 2014. No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear." CS Lewis A Grief Observed. That is what grief feels like. I remember the early stages of grief. It felt exactly like being caught in a wave that you can't right yourself out of. It is scary. It is painful. It burns. It is asphyxiating. I still get a little anxious if I allow myself to think about it. It gets better. The pain isn't as visceral now as it was 7 or 8 years ago. But, what is worse now? But I waded back in. That mee...

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15. Thursday, August 6, 2009. We have enjoyed watching Alex play both doubles and singles tennis matches for our neighborhood team. His skills have improved throughout the summer, which has been rewarding for him. It was so much fun going to his matches all together. Alex always has the biggest (and youngest) fan turnout. Life with the Lords: September 2011

Monday, September 26, 2011. Things I learned while on a twenty mile run. I really need to figure out a way to blog while I'm running. I have so many thoughts floating in and out of my head while I'm out there. And they all sound spectacular at the moment. Unfortunately, I forget them as soon as I'm back home. So, here are some things that I learned this weekend. It always amazes me when I finish a long run and reflect on the distance that I just covered. Does that make sense? Normally, when I head out fo...
